Default Aaargh! My eyes!

I'm just rather half-heartedly watching 'The Hound of the Baskervilles' on Ch4 while I do some paperwork. Ye Gods, where have they got the print from, out of the canal? It's an absolute disgrace - jumpy and unstable, dark and grotty and it looks like it's been 'sharpened' in an attempt to rescue it.
I do wish TV stations would use their clout to insist on good copies.
The print of 'My Fair Lady' that gets shown on tV is ghastly - it looks ragged and again is unstable. This despite the proud 'Digital restoration by Hiram P Burbank' at the end. It looks far worse than the unrestored one!

Is that the Hammer version. That's a surprise as I have seen it on TV via a most acceptable print. However, the DVD print isn't 100% either.

I've just bought a new super duper TV and settled down to watch HOTB but was disgusted at the poor quality of the print. I know - I know - - shoulda gone to specsavers.

I'd give my right arm to be ambidextrous.
