That's the trouble with never having been in thrall to anyone for the last 900+ years - there's no independence to celebrate

You could try a few patron saints' days
Saint George (England) - April 23
Saint David (Wales) - March 1
Saint Patrick (Northern Ireland) - March 17
Saint Andrew (Scotland) - November 30

Or when we celebrate the only man to enter parliament with honest intentions - November 5

I see what you mean Steve, I don't hold with his 'intentions' (being a Royalist) one little bit, but at least he was honest, which is a bit more than can be said for most Politicians!

That date is rather mute compared to others. Although,there were signs this year that people were becoming aware of it.

I have just read today that George W Bush is the most guarded US President in history. A burden for the US tax payers even from when he leaves office up until the day he pops his clogs,methinks.
