I saw that film and it confirmed all I had thought about 'climate change/global warming'. My son (5yrs) came home from school the other day and said we had to turn off all the 'red lights' (standby) on our TV etc 'cos if we didn't 'the icebergs will all melt'.

Is Al Gore the David Icke of 'climate change'?

A few weeks ago I was watching that Alan Titchmarsh programme about the geology of Britain. He pointed out some very big rocks in the Yorkshire Dales, but highlighted the fact that they were from Northumberland, and had been brought to their present site by the flow of ice during the ice age. He later explained, that in the last 2M years, there had been over thirty ice ages. On the same programme,he was in Trafalgar Square, where during the building of Nelson's Column, bones had been found of rhinos and lions, thus demonstating the fact that we have had global warming which gave us the same temperatures as Africa.
In his laid back style,Titchmarsh demonstrated that over the years, the Earth has gone off its axis, going towards the sun and going away from the sun in cycles.

Default It's An Ill Wind...

Of course this report is rubbish. Another excuse to change people's behaviour, and keep them scared so they overlook the billions being earnt by the 'Green' industries, at our expense. Take the ill-fated North American Bison. You may have thought they were slaughtered in the pursuit of ethnic cleansing of the Plains Indians, or for financial reward of two dollars a hide. But no, it turns out those hunters were doing us all a favour. Up to 70 million animals killed in less than a hundred years, leaving a present population of around 170,000. That's American efficiency for you. Think of the methane production that nipped in the bud. Perhaps they ought to start looking seriously at the herds of Wilderbeeste in Africa, or the millions of cattle grazing the ex-rain forests of South America. One thing will increase, however, if we stop eating herbivores. There will be more grain for those people starving because America decided to turn it's subsidised maize mountains into biofuel, instead of using them to influence political decision making in Africa. After all, that's a lost cause, unlike energy procurement. But will us becoming 'veggies' help the starving in other countries? No. It will only make the elite of those countries less accountable, less caring, and much richer.

Regards,
HG

Well put Homeguard. I also read with interest your piece on wind farming a few weeks ago (no pun intended). Good piece of research.

There's always something 'they' like to scare us with, what with 'Millenium bug' going bring the World to a standstill (did it?), and before that 50 years of worry with the threat of the 'Cold War' becoming hot (did that happen either?!!)

Thanks Scholes, it's nice to be appreciated. But I also feel there is a more sinister threat lurking somewhere in society these days. The problem our masters face is one of too much information being available. I work with the military on a daily basis and stumble across really interesting facts occasionally. It is then that you start looking over your shoulder, something Dr.David Kelly should have done.
As the Monty Python team would have said, "Say no more, nudge, nudge".

Regards, with some trepidation,
HG
