Default Real Heroes

We've come across real life heroes in the past and this is a story about a young man who restores the belief that the young in this country are not all selfish and ignorant:

Royal Marine who jumped on grenade awarded George Cross - Telegraph

"...the chairman of Littlewoods stores made a Keynote speech!"

All I can say to that is wow! A tremendous act of bravery by that young man, good for him!

Don't miss out on a chance to win a rare film in Bat-Quiz 13 closing date - 31/8/8.

Was there ever any doubt? But it's usually only the badly behaved that get into the newspapers. Don't make the mistake of thinking that those people in the newspapers are in any way a representative sample

Well done L/Cpl Croucher

What rubbish!

A GC cos it wasn't 'in action'.......................?

Er, why the 'F' are they in Afganistan? Give him a VC! If I recall, a soldier got one in WW1 for the self same thing?

Our Govt are cheap. Violette Szarbo only got a postumous GC. Rubbish! That's was VC - no question!

The way the Govt has treated the Gurkhas? Shamefull.

Let's not be pleased the lad got a GC, go the whole way Gordo, you tight wad!!!
a VC!!

.....You couldn't hear it, if they were shooting at me with howitzers!

I heard the narrative part of the story first, and I have to admit I thought the award would have been a VC.

Particularly pleasing about the happy outcome and that, apart from some temporary sensory loss, he survived unhurt.

I thought he came across as a very humble guy in his interview.

(Ditto what Harley said about the Gurkhas)

If I wasn't meant to drive that fast, the pedal would stop half way!!
