I find people tend to adjust their behaviour from forum to forum depending on the atmosphere there within. If it's a fighty/sweary one people will be similarly forthright, but if it's tightly moderated they'll tone-down their language and behave reasonably.

I used to find the same at work. As soon as I entered the workshop it was eff this, eff that and eff the other - but as soon as I walked in the door at home I unconsciously never let a swear word pass my lips.

It was Joe the crime noir man in Northern Ireland that made me aware of this site and I´m very pleased that he did. As far as any other sites are concerned I´ve never bothered to look as this one is about as perfect as you could get. Since joining I´ve made some good friends and enjoy reading people´s comments and opinions.

It´s easy to take things for granted sometimes but I´m sure we all appreciate the efforts of those that do such a good job in managing this site. Not all of us share the same likes in films or TV and this site accommodates everyone regardless. I think it´s excellent.

Everyone brings something to the table, music is my strongest suit, I know a fair bit about films both Hollywood and British but in no way I am an expert and will never profess to be.

Its a bit like a quiz team each member has different strengths and pockets of knowledge.

When a new member starts its nice to welcome them and say have fun, at the end of the day its what its all about.

the good thing about this forum is the absence of any cliques. another forum i was a member of for a short time was terrible for this-new members were completely ignored or patronised and there was a decidedly sycophantic manner towards the 'senior members' from the 'members'. it was quite difficult for me to adjust when i first posted here and i often wasn't sure whether other members were being genuine or sarcastic, argumentative or merely a difference in opinion was in question.
we all get wound up at times but here there doesn't seem to be any grudges held for any length of time

We did fall into that trap for a short while when we had a members area. But as you say it forms cliques, perhaps not unsurprisingly as regular users do become friends and exchange in-jokes, but we scrapped it and now just have the 3-post requirement to try and encourage newbies to engage.

Smile rude people

For me Hankoler hit the nail on the head.We all like films in one way and anther and all lead totally different lives but the one thing in common is our love of film.I used to deal in collectable toys and still dabble as memories of are a great gift we all share. Good forum.

Oh yes, I've also expereinced the clique mentality in a few online groups and message boards. Actually, I do not miss that at all.

He brings joy to me.

I'd just like to say that, although my posts may suggest that I'm a very sarcastic man, I am really very approachable.
