I was expelled from one group because I dared to suggest that one of the late actor's films wasn't his best work. He probably would have said the same thing himself--probably paying off alimony or child support. I

I think I used the word 'clunker' in reference to Princess of the Nile, and the actor was Jeffrey Hunter. He was an excellent actor, but even the best made awful pictures. I don't want to worship at anyone's altar. If the actor's good in something, I'll say it. The same goes if he stinks. Anyway, as soon as I used that term--clunker--I got avalanched, as though I had insulted Mother Theresa or the Queen.

Hopefully, if I'm outspoken here, someone can lead me back into the path of enlightenment without clubbing me over the head.

I've been involved in dozens & dozens of forums since about '94 '95 & been a mod / admin on several, anything from football to travel to welding & fabrication to wildlife & conservation & a few perhaps I shouldn't mention (not hardcore porn!)

There's nothing worse than a cliquey forum & those which have trusted levels not available to all members, these levels are usually only accessed by founder members or those with sometimes thousands of posts.

The occasional Troll on the other hand can be great fun, stir up a few rucks, get some heated debates going & generally be a nuisance that you can't help but to read their topics & posts to see who's getting annoyed!

As long as it doesn't get seriously abusive & personal etc....no harm done IMO.

It's only the internet innit

I was busy researching Torin's British films on the Internet, that brought me to this site, then I discovered the forums, the rest is history.

He brings joy to me.

Jeffrey Hunter, good actor that he was, made several clunkers!

Agreed. I was watching him the other day in Custer of the West - decent script and good actors, but horrible old fashioned and static direction by Edward Dymytryk kills it stone dead.

He fared a bit better in the spaghetti Find A Place To Die which is worth tracking down. It's not prime spaghetti but at least the cast seem interested.

I pretty much stumbled onto the Jeffrey Hunter site because I was looking for Lure of the Wilderness, which he made in 1952 with Jean Peters (snatched by Howard Hughes from the screen, much to my teenaged chagrin). Hunter's Lure and Gun for a Coward were definitely not clunkers. I recommend them both. Lure of the Wilderness is a very rare film, which I finally managed to secure, thanks to the moderator of that group.

James Dean was originally scheduled for Gun, but he crashed his Porsche--that story is much known. I thought Hunter did a better job as the sensitive middle son; actually, pretty much a 'momma's boy.' Dean Stockwell assumed James Dean attributes--I can't imagine having them both in one film.

Anyway, I lauded these films, but got brickbats tossed at me for Princess of the Nile and some gosh-awful thing called Gold for the Caesars.

I am a member of a number of forums and this IS, without a shadow of doubt, the friendliest one. Yes, I have noticed that there have been a few strong disagreements, and one troll did get booted off - but apart from that - it's all sweetness and light.

On a lighter note, or not, I remember on one forum I moderated a new member joined. He said he owned a DayVan and started posting on the relevant sections looking for advice on importing parts etc.

We had a gallery of 'members' rides' which, naturally, he could access.

I had a fairly angry PM from a member who had received a PM asking if her car might be available for a porn shoot? It transpired that he had 'eyed' all the members' vehicles he thought a friend might be interested in featuring and PM'd them all.

All expenses paid, a copy of the finished item and......this is the worst part.........free valeting after filming. Yuk!

Needless to say, we had to ban him

Saying that "Mike Reilly ... was excellent at motivating us lads" on the parachutist thread might e a bit of a give away

But I've already asked if just two genders are enough for all the people on this forum
