The Ego Has Landed

Big Sam says it like it is ....

"Former Newcastle manager Sam Allardyce has risked inciting the anger of the Geordie fans by claiming the Magpies were not a big enough club for him and insisting the St James' Park outfit "didn't live up to my ambitions". The former Bolton boss Allardyce, who has yet to take a new role in football, also absolved himself of any blame for his aborted stint with United."

His ambitions!!!! What about the ambitions of the supporters? Maybe, just maybe, some little team in the Welsh Valleys might just want him as a manager. Talked himself right out of quite a few jobs now.

Great win for Man City today at ManUSA. It's advantage The Arse though as Chelski are held by The Jolly Scousers ... ouch!

I cancelled Skysports earlier in the week and decided to rely on P2P Spocast or TVants for my footie fix - and having been try bored by the Stamford Bridge fixture I'm glad I did.

Yeah. Given our dreadful record at your place I'm quite happy with a point. Arsenal will be happiest if they win on Monday given the result at OT.

It's nice to see Sven get one over on Fergie. I watched the African Cup Final Egypt v Cameroon. Dreadfully boring match, the only goal came from a Cameroon defensive cock up.

Although Man.U were lacklustre to say the least I thought the 1958 replica kit they were wearing for the day looked superb.

Great colours, numbers 2-11 on the backs (no names needed) and best of all - no advertising logos.

Great stuff.

Dave.

Default Get your kit on

Fully agree,
A reminder of a time when football was a simpler game, unfetterred by rampant commercialism, played in the main by sportsmen who didn't need to be stars or personalities and truly the game of the masses. Today's kits are plain ugly and are not as identifiable to individual teams. The players don't hang around and neither do the jerseys!

Regards,
Edward G.

Can Bats and Harleybloke please explain why Norwich and Watford both played in red at the grounds of teams playing in blue and white?

Methinks tis something to do with the kit contract, if you offer your supporters 'away' kits, you are contracted to wear it a minimum amount of times.......

Our table was virtually a 50/50 split between Man United and City fans, who were in total agreement about one thing ,we are fed up of being ripped off .
I heard something I thought I would never hear , A Utd fan saying (and meaning it ) he was not renewing his season ticket next season .
The foreign investment in our clubs plus Sky and premier league investment ,has resulted in us being able to watch some of the best players in the world playing in england ,but at what cost ?
We now have a different breed of player ( in the premiership ) who is vastly overpaid, totally over rated in most cases ,and seem to have an obsession with celebrity girlfriends and designer lifestyles.
It is quite a contrast to some of the stories being told with regard to the Busby babes this week ,who were in many peoples opinions the greatest team of their era. They travelled to training on the bus, didn't see signing autographs as a chore, and the girls they married made homes for them to raise families without a thought of celebrity status. They were not unique in this because that was how it was in those times ,wouldn't it be nice to see a return to old fashioned values.
It still is if you look outside the Premiership Following less glamorous clubs has its rewards, being able to stand on terraces or have a good seat for £16 rather than gaining entrance via a credit card!

Alas even at Blue Square Premier level (that's Conference to the rest of us) the dreaded influence of TV is rearing its ugly head. Santana Sports are changing kick off times and not giving much notice either, next Sunday I have to make it to Aldershot for a KO at 19:15 hrs on Sunday!!

Hi Mark,

You're lucky.
If I want to watch the Aldershot game on Setanta over here I've got to get up at 5.00 in the morning.
Looks like I'll have to record it.

Tell me where you'll be sitting/standing and I'll keep an eye out for you in the crowd.

Cheers mate

Dave.
