Smiffy, you got to hit these players in the wallet, they aint got no balls to grab ! As for Jose M. I think he's worth every Euro he's paid, but can he please wear a red tails jacket and a top hat so that everyone watching knows what his job is ! Whip optional, but probably would have gone down well on the Kings Road !

Another fictional penalty decision from Rob Styles yesterday at Brum. This is part of my problem with referees, that it's accepted there are bad players, bad managers, bad Prime Ministers, but refs are somehow all excellent.

Frankly with so much money awash in the game it's time they were paid a wage high enough to attract people with better judgement.

That wouldn't surprise me .... we'd miss Droggy more than Lampard though.

That was a bad one at Brum .... re wages, I heard an idea the other that sounded quite good.

Pay a player a percentage of his salary and then let them earn the rest in bonuses. I find quite ludicrous that JT is on £100,000 + per week and still gets bonuses!

Yet this is what todays Independent reports: But Mourinho has denied meeting Inter president Massimo Moratti for talks, saying: "It is just false to say that I am on the point of signing a contract with Inter Milan." (Independent)
I`ve had a feeling for some time that `The Special One` would end up at Barcelona, and after witnessing on Sky last night their abject second half performance in throwing away a 2 goal lead at half time to lose 3-2 to Real Betis; I think the writings on the wall for Frank Rijkaard. I can`t even see winning the Champions League trophy saving him; he looked completely at a loss sat on the bench last night; and you could`nt blame him, it was unbelievable.

A dogged 1-0 for Chelski today which is good news (for me).

After watching the Portsmouth v Wigan match I just cannot imagine why Spurs wanted rid of Dafoe and where happy to keep Bent. I have always rated Dafoe and the guy is on fire at the moment. Surely he was worth a place in the England side ahead of Crouch.

Another England man, David Bentley, has laid the groundwork for anyone who wants to bid for him. While stating that he owes 'so much to Blackburn', he commented that his contract hasn't been sorted and he hinted about a move saying 'we'll probably miss out on Europe which is very disappointing for me'. What's the betting he won't be at Ewood Park next season.

Finally .... is Derby 'defender' Darren Moore even worse than Titus Bramble? I think he probably is!

Bentley has been linked to us but he's too one-paced for my liking. I've always liked Lennon at Spuds but his progress seems to have stalled.

Surely there's nobody worse than Titus Bramble? He's comedy gold.

You must check out Moore ... it's as if Frank Bruno had made a comeback as a 'footballer'.

Ex Footballers (young and old ) tend to go into other areas of the game because they love the game. I personally know a young man who realised he wasn't going to make the grade as a goalkeeper ,so being an intelligent young man he diverted his attentions to coaching ,and is currently being paid a pittance with a league 2 club.
This is exactly the type of young man who should now be being trained as the referee of tomorrow. With the right training and the salary incentive ( and the respect of fellow professionals as somebody who has played the game ) the FA ( and indeed EUFA )should be recruiting from within the pro game ,not looking to make a part time hobby proffesional.
I mean no disrepect to amateur referees ,because as I have posted earlier I couldn't do it ,so in agreement with the above post , why not divert some of the money into areas of the game where it is needed ?

Player power Bats !! Prior to the premier league and the influx of Sky money, the so called "star players " were always set apart from the also rans by the bonus system .I think It was mainly the stars who had agents in those days who negotiated such things as appearances, goals, clean sheets ETC,ETC , the first fantasy football ?
Ask Fergie what he thinks of agents and for once I think some opposing fans may agree with him

Greed. To use Bats example of JT, his salary for 1 week would pay 2 top referee's for a year. The irony is that their decisions cost some clubs millions so why not make it an attractive vocation that will lure many applicants.

We had Howard Webb today who is thankfully human and knows how to officiate a derby. I'm not really one for the 'robot' referee and prefer those that apply a bit of discretion and common-sense.

What a wonderful victory for Manchester United away to Roma.

Many are saying that this United team is the best club side in the world at present and who could disagree?
Ronaldo is easily the best player in the world.

I've always felt that United are destined to win the Champions League this season as it is the 50th year since the Munich air disaster.
The Busby Babes would be proud.

Dave.

A very mature performance with some outstanding individual performances notably from Rio Ferdinand and Michael Carrick.
Ronaldo's goal was one Nat Lofthouse would have been proud to score.
Never have I seen a player that can dribble and move like a Ballerina, score free kicks which Beckham can only drool over ,and head the ball like thoroughbred Centre Forward. He is the complete player.
Whilst Barcelona will be an obstacle, I can see a United v Chelsea final, the outcome of which I really wouldn't like to predict.

A good night for me and Bats I suspect. Popped my head round the door of Arsenal World and there's some angry angry Gooners tonight.
