Well ,the scond coming certainly hasn't seen the Messiah deliver the goods. Probably THE most absurd choice for a manager this decade. Keegan had evidently lost his credentials as a tactician long ago, and for somebody who publicly announced that he never watched football anymore made it all the more surprising.
I feel sorry for Avram Grant. I think he has more about him than people think.
I hope he'll be given a chance, but unfortunately I think the Russian oil magnate will share similar allegiances to those incumbent at the Santiago Bernebau.

Avram has done a great job .... I can't think of anyone who could have done better. I do think he'll still be manager at the start of next season, but should things go awry, I reckon he'll be gone.

A good night for harbottle ...

"Aldershot Town sealed promotion back to the Football League, 16 years after they last played there. The Shots claimed the Blue Square Premier title on Tuesday evening after gaining the point they needed at Exeter City. The champagne was placed on ice for a moment as Adam Stansfield's goal threatened to postpone the promotion party, but Scott Donnelly struck to make sure Gary Waddock's men were promoted. Torquay United, relegated from League Two last season, have all but sealed their place in the play-offs but the remaining three spots could go to any one of four teams with only a point between Burton, Cambridge, Stevenage and Exeter. Manager Gary Waddock, a former QPR, Luton Town, Millwall and Bristol Rovers player, steered the Shots to a title winning season at the first time of asking with a record of 39 wins, 9 draws and 9 defeats in 57 games."

But Chelsea have been bl**dy boring!
Listen to the Chelsea TV phone-in segments and most of the fans think so too.

There have been more than a couple of games at Stamford Bridge (and away) this season where I think they should have offered a full refund to the fans.
Sure they might grind out the results but pretty it ain't.

In my opinion it would be a total injustice and a bad advertisement for the Premier League if Manchester United were denied the title by Chelsea.
United are by far the more stylish team.

Dave.

Can't see Utd (bless em!) faltering now. They've hit form at the right time

& have no serious injuries to worry about.

I'll be very happy if they do the business in the league & in Europe.

It'd be nice if Stockport County & Rochdale got promoted too!!

Thanks Bats Amazing night, must admit when the old club went bust I never thought I would see league footy again in Aldershot. Oh the glamour of Division Four or whatever they call it now since we have been away :-)

It's a results business, the problem for Grant is that Roman probably expects results and style considering the scale of his investment. Thing is with Chelsea, I think they look more dangerous playing route-one to Drogba than they do trying to play the pretty football more suited to Anelka.

The Droggy route is definitely more effective. Rumours from The Bridge indicate that Avramovitch is prepared to let Droggy go along with some of the fringe players (Bridge, SWP, Ben Haim, Pizarro etc) and will replace them with 'flair' players for next season.

David Villa looks a stylish player but I think the likes of Drogba offer you an option to mix-it-up. If Chelsea let him go I'm sure he'll find a suitor in Spain or Italy; probably back with Mourinho.

I still think The Special One is on his way to Barcelona with Droggy and Lumplard following soon after.

Droggy is the best 'centre-forward' in the world ... he will be missed.

It would be nice to see some of the old Chelski style again .... Osgood, Hudson, Cooke, Zola etc were all bloody marvellous!

Unfortunately Dave you don't get any extra points for style
I don't see anything wrong with grinding out the odd result ,or as the experts like to say " win without playing well " but I certainly wouldn't pay to watch it week in week out .

I May be getting older ,but I refuse to grow up

I rate Drogba Bats , and I think you will miss him if he goes ,but I have always felt that if a players heart isn't with the club you may as well let him go .

I think Ranieri's Chelsea were far more pleasing on the eye but a manager is judged by Premiership titles ,and Champions league titles .
I think Benitez would be elsewhere now if it wasn't for his uncanny knack of reaching (and winning ) Champions league finals with a Liverpool side that flatters to decive in the Premiership

I May be getting older ,but I refuse to grow up

Default Chelski - A question from the cheap seats ?

With all this chopping and changing (especially the hands changing money) how will Chelski form an identity ? Are the players of years gone by really enough ? Aren't their reputations ultimately South West London/Kings Rd folklore ?I know a couple of former Shed boys who now struggle to remain interested and they're chasing the title and the European Cup ."They don't play for us, they just play for money." True or false it is preceived as a truth. Man Utd. have a much more vibrant history - Munich, Best/Law/Charlton, Beckham and constant success. Arsenal have all that history and now all that style, but Chelski what does it stand for ?

Me I dont support any of them.
