Apparently thousands of angry scots turned up at the train station after the match hoping to get a train home only to find that the next train was at 430am!Why they held thsi game at a ground which only has a capacity of 44000 and in Manchester yet,i do not know.

I suppose they are going to Moscow on the basis of "buggins turn"What cannot be denied is that Moscow should never have been asked to host the event. However it is not realistic to say that the game should be switched to the UK on 4 weeks notice. You cant just chop and change things because of the nationality of the clubs. After all there have been all Spanish and all Italian finals on a number of occasions and there were no suggestions on those occasions that the venue should be changed.

I didn't say the venue should have been changed. A back up venue for one nation finals was suggested years ago but was rejected by FIFA. I would have thought it made sense to have a reserve venue announced for that reason at the same time as the 'proper' venue is announced.

REmeber that for example nowdays FA Cup replays are held a minimum of 10 days after the original game because of police requirements just think how difficult it would be forthis to be achieved.Say this plan was adopted, one would assume that Wembley would be the venue. It is hosting the FA Cup Final on Saturday. It gives the groundstaff only 4 days to prepare the pitch. What happens if it is a wet day on Saturday and the pitch is cut up.Then everyone will complain about the state of the pitch. How do you give the caterers TFL and all others involved in the organisation of wembleys events sufficient notice to prepare for this event.Sorry it just wont work.It is i am afraid a totally unrealistic idea. Also just suppose that next year the same thing happens. So is England to have the final 2 years running?I think that the rest of Europe would be spitting mad .

I've just done my weekly shop at ASDA which is opposite the City of Manchester Stadium. Boy what a mess they've left behind paper and bottles litter the area and apprarently the city centre in knee deep in rubbish also.

I pity the Moscovites if they have the same mess to clean up

can anyone tell me the point of going to Manchester when you have not got a ticket for the game.
Many years ago Arsenal used to play Rangers on an annual basis. Then in 1969 they came down to Highbury and were beaten 3-0.When the third goal went in a hail of bottles came raining down on the pitch from the Rangers fans. The result of that was that Rangers have never played at Highbury or the Emirates since. So alas things dont change.

Christ Wadsy, you don't remember the 1960 final do you?

I only tuned in for the last twenty five minutes of the UEFA CUP and was quite surprised how bad Rangers were. Simple control of a football , reasonably accurate passing and a modicom of vision and subtle movement off the ball all seemed to be noticably absent from Walt's game plan. I think he was relying soley on the hope that the long punt up field would return at least one goal.
Very poor stuff.
Zenit, like all Russian sides, were a slick passing team.

Possibly....but I predict that, if successful, City will at least put up more of a fight....no-one in Bristol gave City a prayer of going up this season, playoffs or not, and I have a lack of betting slips to prove it; they were 16/1 to go up at the beginning of the season. Gary Johnson has worked wonders on their mental attitude and fitness, and they've run through walls for him. Next season, wherever City are, they'll do the same...

Bit of a Bay Window, what??

Default Celtic V. Rangers "back in the day"

Orpheum, in the late 7)'s I became mates with a bloke from "Sunny Leith", he was a Hibs fan. He told me that at the Rangers v. Celtic matches some of the punters wore crash helmets so as not to get hit in the head with bottles. He claimed the Pomagne bottles were the most dangerous !
