I'm glad to say, you're wrong on both counts.

The Arse were relegated in 1912-13 and Everton in 1929-30.

The team which went longest before being relegated was Sunderland - they first went down in 1957-58 and it's been a yoyo ever since

Default Terrace Chants/football Songs

Apologies if this has been discussed before, but does anyone have any information as to what were the first terrace led chants or songs ? I've read that one of the fitrst was by The Kop, chanting "St John" to the clapped tune/rhythmn of The Routers "Lets Go". I'm not sure when the Hammers' fans satrted singing "Bubbles" but obviously "You'll Never Walk Alone" could not have ben sung until "Carousel" was known in England.

Any thoughts, opinions or even a fact or two ?

I think the Prem is now very like Serie 'A'. The champs will always come from the same select few. The same few teams will then be relegated, promoted, relegated, etc

The sooner a true Euro league forms the better. I mean had Watford gone up, it was supposed to be worth £60m to them. They would have been hammered most weeks, likely as not gone right back down. £60m? that's daft money. Daft if you can't stay up with it and that isn't likely!

I mean, Wigan? What is the point? Big dosh from TV, stuff all chance of ever being close to Champs.

.....You couldn't hear it, if they were shooting at me with howitzers!

Exactly!

3 up - 3 down is a joke. All it does in ensure that there is one definite whipping boy in the Premier League each year.

There are 4 clubs who are in no danger of relegation in the foreseeable future, another 8-10 who may have a bad patch but are very unlikely to be involved in the struggle at the end of the season. What's left will be fighting it out with the 3 promoted clubs to try to maintain their position.

I doubt very much if any club now outside of the Premier League will break into the Big Four in my lifetime and I'm equally certain that no club outside of the top dozen has any chance of winning it in my lifetime short of a global financial upheaval of such proportion that the Premier League will be the last of anyone's worries

In the papers this morning one very relevant comment. The players in the Hull v Bristol game are effectively playing to be made redundant .Derby are clearing out nearly all of their playing staff.

Think you'll not be alone as neither club has sold their allocation. No surprise for Chelsea but the pond life are supposed to be 'the biggest club in the world TM'.

a warning to all those clubs out there with big foreign investors.Look what has just happened to Gretna.Millionaire pumps money into what had been a non league club.Takes them to the SPL and Cup Final. Then mysteriously withdraws backing and the club implodes. It looks like they will be kicked out of the Scottish League with debts of 4 million.Apparently Gretna has a population of 2700,so no doubt they will go back to the Northern Premiere League.

I think most are safe due to their fanbase, which would attract a new investor and most do have interested suitors. I was surprised to read yesterday that Chelsea are over £700m in debt, about £500m+ to Abramovich? I just thought he threw money at them rather than loans. Even funnier is that Kenyon is still clinging to his delerium of 'breaking even'.

If he walked they'd be sooooo shafted.

You could share Kinstonians ground with AFC Wimbledon, who won the Ryman League playoffs to get into the Blue Square League.I wonder if the day is not too far off when MK Dons will play AFC WImbledon in the Football League?

Kenyon tuna - red tuna fished in the south-east asian seas that becomes blue if you grab it by the gills and douse it in champagne. Served with russian caviar.

Let's hope we get a decent game toight.
Stomach cramps are with me as I write.
