I feel we are kindred spirits at the moment Bats
The evening of the final of the Champions league and the ABU'S AND ABC'S are out in force ,with their hopes for our futures ,while obviously reccolecting their pasts ,never mind Bats there's nothing like the Present
Best wishes mate, May the best team win

Default What could be

Bats and Smiffy,
As a rather success - starved Liverpool supporter (for the last 2 seasons, anyway) I can watch this match with a certain detached amusement. I don't want to do the bitter ABU thing and sit with a ouji board, defacing images of the respective managers....I just hope it's a decent final, unlike many of the big head-to-head finals that often fall flat on the day. Both these teams have been the best in the Premiership over the season and deserve their place, so 'nuff said.
My ideal scenario, though...
UTD to go ahead early on with a showpiece goal by wonderboy Ronaldo...
Cue unbridled joy from the UTD bench and verbal flourishes from the commentator.
Chelsea to level after an hour with a header (and extensive use of elbows) from John Terry.
Drogba to take flight at 91 minutes and Lampard to drive home the winner from the spot.
Cue foaming at the mouth of a certain Scottish manager and the obligatory ejection of chewing gum - possibly in the direction of the now cowering linesman....

Does anyone have another dream finish to this final?

Just that we are winning EG.

I hear that the ref and linesman involved in the Liverpool 'ghost' goal in the semi-final a few years back are two of the three officials tonight. Anyone know if this is true?

I wish I had claws.

The team which went longest before being relegated was Sunderland - they first went down in 1957-58 and it's been a yoyo ever since
Everton came striaght back after their first relegation and were out of the First Division for 3 years after their second relegation in 1951.So although we have the longest period of continued membership of the top division(2009 will be the 90th anniversary)Everton have the longest membership interms of years actually spent in the top division.

I Believe it is Bats ,I sincerely hope that the final is decided on football alone and not a dodgy decision (either way )

Just simply to wish Bats, Smiffy and Scholes a great evening. Enjoy yourselves wherever you are.
I don't mind who wins, I like the way Grant has taken Chelsea and also stayed out of the limelight unlike the special one.
United are a great club, have been the best club for a number of years and deserve to equal Liverpool's double achievement.

This brought a smile to my face today.

We all know about famous modern managers refusing to speak to television stations because of perceived wrongs in their coverage - but what about Stockport boss Jim Gannon? He, reportedly, is not cooperating with Sky before the club's play-off League Two play-off final against Rochdale because of a nine-month customer relations dispute over his defective Sky box.

Thanks Freddy ,It's nice to hear a voice of reason
Can you imagine if two teams were representing ,Spain ,Germany ,Italy ,or any other Nation in Europe ? Do you think they would receive the same negativity from their fellow countrymen as Chelsea and United have ?
I am on my way into Manchester in the next hour ,to watch the biggest game of the season on the European continent ,and regardless of who wins It will be the name of an ENGLISH team on the cup

Come on United , do It for the Babes

If you get any more bitter and twisted Orpheum ,you'll be able to see where you've come from without turning round
I hope you enjoy the game

Orph,
You seem obsessed by stats and in particular the financial ones.
Are you an accountant by any chance?
Remember what the great Oscar Wilde once said,
"A cynic is a man who knows the price of everything but the value of nothing"...
