Congratulations to Stockport County who gained promotion to Div 1 with a

3-2 win over local rivals Rochdale at Wembley on Monday!!

Manager Jim Gannon did a great job with a young squad.

Have been away so only just aware of the sacking og Grant. It beggars belief that just failing to win the Champions League and the Premiereship qualifies you for the sack!

Must admit I was hoping Rochdale would finally make it out of Div 2, an unbroken stay now since 1974!

according to the papers today the salaries paid out by the top 4 were
Chelski 115 million
United 85 million
Arsenal 83 million
Liverpool 69 million
Chelski are predicted to spend 125 million this coming year.
I wonder what the wage bill of Hull will be?

That's surprised me, I always thought Arsenal were quite sensible about their salaries but just £2m away from Utd? Ours was getting out of hand and thankfully we've been more prudent of late; in fact I read today that Torres took a wage cut to join!

then figures were issued by deloittes and are available on the web.As Arsenals turnover is in excess of 200 million the % wage ratio is well below 50%.In fact in his last year with the club Henry was paid a 5million pound signing on fee and was paid 100,000 per week which of cousre in total equates to 200000 pwer week.Given the way he performed last season it seems that Arsenal did reasonably good business by selling him last summer.

I hear though that Liverpool are now having to offer Torres a 4 million quid pay rise to ensure that he stays at the Pool.

The Sunday press are speculating that there are now only two candidates for the Chelsea managers job - Carlo Ancelotti and Mark Hughes.

Although he has been warned away by AC Milan it appears that Ambramovich wants to persuade Ancelotti to take the Blues job.
Kenyon is said to favour Mark Hughes for the job.

I'm not sure that Hughes has really proven yet that he can manage a big club like Chelsea.
