I doubt whether Deco at 31 will be purchased by Chelsea.

Aren't they supposed to be breaking even by 2010 according to Kenyon? He's living in a fantasy.

I wish people would stop talking about the money and concentrate on the football .... Scolari is a good choice, Deco's a tosser and I agree with scholes that he's too old to make an impact. If Chelski go bankrupt it's their own fault and even though I am a fan I will shed no tears. If you live by the chequebook you could die by the chequebook .... but it's fun while it's all going on!

Given the owner's wealth I think that's something very hard to avoid.

But the wealth is there .... it's been there for a few years now and unless he legs it it'll remain there. Nothing new has happened with regard to the money, he's splashed it out in the past and he'll do it again. All this stuff is old hat and if anyone takes anything Peter Kenyon says at face value they are bonkers .... the guy's a twat. It's all smoke and mirrors at The Bridge, the sensible fans know it could all come crashing down at any time and are just enjoying some rare years of success. The most ridiculous comments I have heard have been about how Roman has ruined English football. Is ploughing your cash into one club ruinous for the game .... not really, it just raises the bar, and the only other team that have done that successfully over the past couple of years have been ManUSA. What I think is more ruinous for the English game is Arsenal regularly playing a team which features no English players and has a youth policy geared towards recruiting the best young players from Europe. At least Chelsea's youth academy has 80% English players in it!

Thats rich ,when did any of these English players ever get a run out?Would any Chelski manager get rid say of Lamppard and put in his place an untried 17year old,as Wnenger did with Viera and fabregas.
If you want to live the Leeds scenario you are going the right way about it.Given that your club is ready to pay 20 million as soon as any england player comes on the market and discard him when you have effectively prevented him progressing elsewhere your words are richly ironic. No doubt Wright-Phillips is contemplating another season in the stiffs or warming the subs bench.Maybe if he had had the chance to actually play week in and week out he would have been a betterplayer for England.

A 17yr Spanish player, not an Englishman, and is Walcott making better progress than SWP, I think not. I think SWP is grossly over-rated and the reason he doesn't get picked is because he is not up to the job!

Viera was past it when he was sold .... Lampard isn't, so the comparison is redundant anyway. Besides, I don't see many other brilliant 17yr olds setting the Premiership on fire so why single out Chelsea. I will tell you why, because these days they are an easy target. I hear it all the time "My own team are shit so let's blame Chelsea for having too much money''. Perhaps if their teams played better they might win something.

Cash doesn't guarantee success. Chelsea won nothing last year and neither did the richest club in the world, Real Madrid.

If the boot was on the other foot most fans would jump at the chance to have a successful team ... regardless of where the backing came from. The criticism of Chelsea stems from jealousy and sour grapes - end of story.

I see where Orphs is coming from, we're owned by a pair of cowboys but the majority of the debt risk is shouldered by the club and have nightmares about these two squabbling jerks getting us into the Leeds situation.

I can understand that .... what I don't understand is why all these Chelsea-haters are so 'concerned' about the club's future. I don't want to see any club in that sort of crisis but I don't keep going on about the Glazers or Hicks/Gillette as if I actually care about it. I'd rather concentrate on whether Torres is gonna link up with Villa or who will replace Ronaldo at Old Trafford. Or, more importantly, will Scolari bring the tosser Deco to The Bridge!

Do Chelsea need/have room for another centre mid? But managers do often like to bring along a player that understands their philosophy.

That's what worries me.

We don't need him or have room for him .... maybe it's a sign that Lumplard is off soon.

Orphs
Players like SWP, and Steve Sidwell went to Chelsea to further their careers, without the guarantee of first team football. Their choice. That's football money go round son and some dodgy advice from their respective agents. SWP probabaly at the expense of resurrecting his England career. Don't blame the clubs.

I'm not really seeing your point anyway. The only two players I can think of that came from the Arsenal ranks, sorry three players, were
Charlie Dimmock
Ashley Cole and
David Bentley
Mr. Platini has gone on record criticising Wenger's policy of plundering Europe for the best young talent.
The other day you were hailing the French wizard's power of perception that United and Chelsea are nothing more than cheats-meant in the broadest sense possible no doubt given their financial advantage, so I'm sure, given his messianic observations you have an opinion on Arsenal's youth policy.
Wenger is hardly breaking new ground in his belief of giving youth their chance -Busby, Dario Grady, Ferguson and van Gaal to mention some forward thinking managers.
Arsenal play some fantastic football and I'm sure will be even better next season, and with them United, Chelsea, Liverpool, and probably Spurs and Manchester City too will provide thrills and spills along the way.
Not everything can be quantified and presented as an attractive spread sheet Orpheum. You do seem to use this standpoint for your arguments all the time.
Arsenal have no moral high ground to take.

For anyone whose interested or got the loot - Premiership side WEST BROMWICH ALBION is up for sale.
Investors are welcome.
Rumours that long time fan Eric Clapton may be interested. Also stories of another Russian billionaire showing interest.

Albion are one of the few fully solvent clubs around thanks to great financial planning in the past.
I sincerely hope that all the speculation about the sale of the club will not cause friction in the team.

Dave.
