I hope Holland field a weakened side and Romania beat them so we see the back of both Italy and France. Both teams have been conspicuously poor and not very sporting so they don't deserve to go through. I think the Germans will raise their game against the Portugese and that it will be a good match. I fancy the Germans to win because although they haven't looked great they have a habit of winning games against better sides. The Dutch have looked good, I hope they haven't peaked too early 'cos it would be a shame if their tournament fizzled out.

A nice day out .... write that one off and any points gained is a bonus. Same with most of the fixtures away from home.

Hull, Stoke, Boro, Fulham, Wigan, Bolton - home and away should be enough

Well, they'll meet what's left of Arsenal after the transfer exodus...could be the best time to play them.

Bit of a Bay Window, what??

This will cheer all Blackburn Rovers fans up - word is that Steve McClaren is favourite to get the vacant managers job there.
What price now for Blackburn being relegated?

I know it's no consolation but the teams that stopped England qualifying, Croatia and Russia, have both progressed to the Euro Quarter Finals.

IMHO if England had qualified they would have been embarrassed by at least one of the other teams. Marcel Desailly made a good comment when he said that watching France had been like watching England (McClaren version). Russia and Croatia are both decent sides and deserved to go through. The Bat's cash is on the line tonight .... come on The Krauts!

I can't see anything other than a Portugal win. Then again the Germans are capable of spoiling anyone's party aren't they.
Russia look like they're starting to move up a couple of gears, as they disposed of Sweden last night with ease. Could have been 5-0 .

Anyone know why The White Stripes 'Seven Nation Army' seems to have been adopted as an unofficial anthem for Euro 08? It's played in the stadium before every match...

It's been a terrace song for a few years. Ours is about Mascherano, but namechecks Gary Neville, and ends in that "derr, der der der derr" baseline.

Not to be confused with the 'derring' of Ring of Fire.

May I declare how delighted I am that Turkey beat Croatia tonight.
I'm neither pro-Turkey nor anti-Croatia, but I am virulently anti-Adrian Chiles.
Not content with bombarding us with Adrian's Baggies' Agony and Ecstasy two seasons ago, the BBC showed every sign of doing the same with Adrian's Croatian Agony and Ecstasy during this competition.
He's half Croatian, you know.......................what you didn't know? WTF have you been for the last fifteen years - he never stops banging on about it.
Still, fireworks duly pissed on, he will no doubt be sharing his Baggies' highs and lows with us in August.
You see, the likes of us don't really understand the vagaries of supporting a football club, so we need a celeb to demonstrate the depths and heights to us.
If you should feel the need to come out in support of Birmingham's own Stewie Griffin face-double, may I ask you to refrain from complaining about the dumbing-down of the BBC and declining journalistic standards on other threads.
Adrian Chiles, the **** on the Clapham omnibus on your screen.
