It's not just him, it's the senior people at the Beeb who have decided that he is their mascot.
To me, Chiles is emblematic of the decline of informed journalism in broadcasting.
He is the bloke standing next to you in the pub, selected at random, and given his own show.
It doesn't end there, though.
He's encouraged to hijack the show and stamp his own quirky, bumbling, know-nothing personality on the proceedings.
I don't want the Adrian Chiles Show, I want a football programme with an informed and professional anchorman and the odd pundit.
We never had to put up with this crap when we had knowledgable pros like Coleman and Lynam.
Take me down

PS. I'll see your gobshite Nesbitt, and I'll raise you an Eamonn Holmes and an Alan Davies. Be warned that I also have David Mellor, Frankie Dettori and DJ Spoony (the golfer from the ghetto), up my sleeve.
What a joy it must be to pick your football team off the top of the league, and then to disparage other fans who have not chosen so wisely, or who choose to support a team which has some relevance to them and its own area.

I have not heard the White Stripes yet but I have noticed that the grounds always play "Samba De Janeiro" by Bellini after every goal is scored.

I think he's suited to fluff like The One Show; which itself is really just a revamped cheaper version of Nationwide. That's where Chiles should be, presenting regional telly.

Holland managed to find a banana skin again, this time Russia, who played them off the park. Hiddink has some record as an international boss.....constantly overachieving. Whataever happens from here on in, it's been a terrific tournament. Tomorrow...Italy v Spain.
Adrian Chiles?? He's OK!! Especially on MOTD 2, where he's consistently better than Lineker, et al, and asks the right questions of the pundits. As good as Lynam at his pomp.

Bit of a Bay Window, what??

When it comes to international football tournaments you can usually throw the form book out of the window.
Holland easily beat France, Italy and Romania in the group stages then get completely outplayed by Russia in the quarter finals.
I mentioned in an early post about teams peaking too early in a tournament - and that appears to have been true about both Portugal and Holland.

As for all this talk about Adrian Chiles - is he the bloke with the Brummie accent?
If it is, I saw him for the very first time a couple of days ago.
I thought he was a bloke that the BBC had just dragged in off the street as a late replacement.
Gee, Match Of The Day has certainly gone downhill from the times when I used to watch it when in the UK. (Circa 1960's to the nineties).

I see Chelsea are now responsible for Portugal's Euro 2008 exit. Apparently the public announcement that Scolari was leaving (agreed with the Portuguese FA) unsettled the squad, even though he'd told them prior to the start of the tournament that he was leaving. I expect they'll now be blamed for the demise of Holland as well.

Great game last night, deservedly won by Russia. Tonight's games should be interesting ... the highly fancied Spainiards against the rather poor (so far) Italians. I reckon the Italians will sneak it.

At least my cash looks a good bet to remain in my pocket, at least till the final, especially with the Turks losing several players via suspension and injury.
