I suppose it depends on what has taken place. Leeds was bad financial management, but long ago Mike Newell claimed of bungs and money being siphoned off. I can only guess the previous owners must lined their own pockets with club funds.

Unfair on the new owners, but if you punish them lightly you set a precedent that others might think worth the gamble.

Like the site link above states there's not much love lost for them due to the plastic pitch, ban on away fans and horrid fans.

The thirty points fine is for a combination of going into administration (for the third time in eight years I believe, so they had previous) and illegal payments to agents and players....

Bit of a Bay Window, what??

Does anybody subscribe to Setanta?

Crikey, what a shower of incompetence. They must be desperate to hang onto subscribers as first customer service tries talking you round, then a cancellation adviser offers you various deals, then finally they demand written confirmation (that others suggest sits in a corner for 10 weeks).

I subscribe to Setanta here in Australia Ste. Luckily I do not have to go through what you experienced.
Setanta is an extra option on the Sports Package of Austar Pay TV, so I only have to deal with Austar.
Setanta only have the one station over here at present.

Over here Setanta will be covering all of England's World Cup qualifiers and International friendlies and the FA Cup rounds, amongst other football, next season.

Dave.

Strangely enough ,I approached virgin media (my cable supplier ) to upgrade me to Setanta for the last month of the Footy season ,my reasoning being I would cancel at the season end .
I was told by Virgin I could have Stanta 1 for £9.99 a month OR I could upgrade my TV channels to 140 channels AND HAVE All the setanta channels including the golf For £ 5 a month

I May be getting older ,but I refuse to grow up

Yep, I've friends who phone up Sky every six months threatening to cancel - and they always seem to get offered another deal of some description not to.

Man City have offered £25,000,000 for Ronaldinho and have promised him wages of £200,000 per week.

Do you think they'd take Sheva off our hands as well?

Madness ... complete madness!

Dopey berks. They could buy two young quality additions for that money rather than a pantomime horse. I can't see him agreeing to go there.

AC Milan apparently want him but will 'only' offer £100,000 per week .... apparently out horsey friend is very motivated by money so you never know.

I Feel another Malcolm Allison Era coming along
Surely Hughesy doesn't want him at that price, I think he has far more nouse than that,It sounds like the owners throwing their money around and picking the team

I know that most of the football transfer speculation published in the newspapers never actually eventuates but some stories around today are difficult to believe.

Chelsea are said to be trying to beat Man. City to the signing of show pony Ronaldinho and also to have offered a massive 48 million quid for Real Madrid player Robinho. How overpriced is that????
Maybe Scolari wants a team of Brazilians.

Also Spurs have stated that they want 30 million quid for Berbatov.
A very good player who can also be very lazy. 30 million? Surely not!

Most of the players mentioned in these huge transfer deals are not worth half of the amounts being quoted.
Look at the clubs apparently fighting over players like Barry and Bentley. Good players maybe but certainly way overpriced.

Most top clubs seem to have more money than sense.

Dave.

Indeed. I find it amazing that Mark Hughes actually wants to sign Ronaldinho- assuming he's had a say in all of this.
I wouldn't pay him in bent washers.

he rubs people up the wrong way and he is very opinionated but he is a very good manager. When Chelsea wanted him(before the megabucks) he would have done a fine job. Take a look at his record, not bad. More recently look how Palace improved last year under him.
