Phew! Ronaldinho has signed for AC Milan.

Lucky escape for City.

Although I really don't want any kind of success for the blue noses on the other side of the City ,I hope Hughesy is allowed to run the club his way and buy the players HE wants

I suspect Mr Robert Keane will soon be a red (not a red, white and black).

I'm preparing to die of embarrassment at the first 'Keano' chant.

Sven lookalike fools Mexico

A Sven-Goran Eriksson lookalike duped one of Mexico's top football clubs into giving him the red-carpet treatment.

Sven lookalike Derek Williams in action

Flanked by two glamour girls, 'Sven' claimed he wanted to check out the squad before making his first selection for the Mexican national side.
But it was actually Derek Williams, a 56-year-old English actor who is trying to rekindle his career as a Sven lookalike.
He was given a tour of Universidad Nacional's stadium before issuing a statement to journalists and posing for photographs.
No one appeared to noticed that the visitor was not the real Eriksson until after he had left, the Italian newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport reported.
The Universidad Nacional manager Ricardo Ferretti, who chatted to Mr Williams and showed him around the ground, said: "To be honest, I was quite amused.
"The fake Eriksson told me he was watching my players ahead of his next call-ups, and I believed him."
Mr Williams, of Welwyn Garden City, advertises himself on his website as a 'Svenalike'. He arranged his visit by sending the first division club fake documents purporting to be from the Mexican football federation.
The real Eriksson was named as the new Mexico coach in June after being sacked by Manchester City. Mexican officials have since warned all clubs to be on their guard should the imposter strike again.
"The real Eriksson is in the US at the moment and the character who has been claiming to be him is just a ringer," the federation said in a statement, adding that Mr Williams had shown a "total lack of respect".

You can tell it's not.
If it was Sven he'd no doubt be rogering her senseless!

I think if that chant went up there'd be civil war on the Kop. On the potential signing of Keane and Barry, has Rafa now realised the kind of player needed to take that extra step ?

They would be quality signings IMO - even though I can see it meaning poor "centre mid's my position" Gerrard operating on the right once again

Apparently the club doctor is in Switzerland so the Keane move is on hold despite Levy having a tantrum.

I'm not really sold on Rafa's other bites. Barry is only thus priced because Utd overpayed for Carrick and Hargreaves. Downing is average at best and only gets recognition because there's a dearth of English lefties. Milner is really no different to Pennant.

I think Barry would be a good signing, should work well with Mascherano. Price is a different issue. I agree about Downing and Milner and Riera never looked like he was gonna cut it at City.

I get the feeling he may have a surprise up his sleeve ( if he can sell ) otherwise Barry and Keane would be represent good business ( ie tye of player needed ) by themselves.

If Alonso stays I'm not sure it would be wise to buy in area we are well stocked (we also have Plessis knocking on the door). I'd rather buy a left sided player like VDV (in my dreams).

Strange news today that Tottenham have approached the FA to report both Liverpool and Manchester United for "tapping-up" Keano and Berbatov.

I really thought that Spurs had wanted to offload them (for the right price).

Dave.

It's a bit rich as Spurs tapped up Bostock and Ramos.

The FA wont do anything as they've reported Utd too....

Fergie has been quoted as saying "I think he'll come before the end of the summer" (Berbatov)
This has annoyed Spurs, and led to them calling Fergie a Hypocrite, with regard to the Ronaldo situation .
I can't disagree with them (and must admit feel a tad embarrased ) but I don't think United and Liverpool have done anything wrong ,unless you call ,voicing your admiration of a player via the press ,tapping up ?

I am led to believe United have actually put a bid in for Berbatov ,(not sure about liverpool ) so they can't be compared to Real Madrid ,who haven't made any kind of monetary offer for Ronaldo ,apart from to the player himself (If the papers are to be believed.

The Facts of life are, that the big clubs are always going to be interested in players at other clubs that they think can improve them, and the players will for the most part want to come.
Tottenham are a big club ,but they cannot compete with the "Big four " at this moment in time.
I can't see anybody outside the "big four" challenging for the title in the foreseeable future.

I May be getting older ,but I refuse to grow up

I think this is just PR spin from Levy, he's acknowledged both wish to leave so is just playing to the WHL faithful. He could simply say "No" to both bids.
