Israel had only one shot (that was on target) on goal during the whole game.
Robinson must have thought it was his birthday.

Still England cannot do much more than win. Heskey I thought had a fair game although he did miss a sitter. A sharper Owen would have had a hat-trick.

Bring on the Russians.

England showed they can do without a certain someone. Can we please stop this insistance on unsettling the team and dragging him back to hog all the headlines and put in another less than satisfactory performance? Sean Wright Phillips did more in one game yesterday than his predecessor has done in loads. Richards behind him does a great job too.
England looked more balanced yesterday and as someone said, had Owen been sharper the win would have been even more impressive.

I actually think we might be the Russians if we put that team out, although they'll have to up it a gear ... it was well balanced and they all showed a degree of enthusiasm not seen for a while. Heskey was OK, Owen will get better with more games under his belt and Wright-Phillips was a revelation! The defence looked solid and Barry was effective. Beckham should not be brought back ... McLaren should give this team a boost of confidence and leave it alone for Wednesday.

WOMEN'S WORLD CUP
ENGLAND 2 JAPAN 2

A very exciting match with Japan going one up against the run of play, only for England to score two in two minutes late in the second half. Unfortunately Japan equalised from a free kick in the fourth minute of stoppage time.

Germany are next for England on Friday. Germany beat Argentina 11-0 last night so it will be a tough game.

How gives a hoot about rugby.It is a minority sport played by thickos who are not good enough to play football,and who enjoy legalised thuggery!

After all who could you actually name from the England Rugby team.The only one i know is Wilkinson and that is because he is always out injured.In any event the use of the term World Cup is a misnomer.More like the Commonwealth and a few odds and sods.Tonga,Samoa,Fiji,i am surprised that they didnt get a team from the Isle of Man to make up the numbers!Just shows you how desparate ITV must be to put it on in prime time.Why dont they bring back wresting instead.Oh on the other hand maybe this is the idea.Perhaps we will get our wrestling back.After all Brian Maxine is still wrestling and he is in to his 70s now.

I remember Brian Maxine ... he was the guy whose 'speciality' move was the draw his forearm back and forth across people's throats like a saw.
