Rachel Unitt .... she was dropped for the first game. The other three played though.

Thus speaks someone who's never seen much rugby played

The "thugs and thickos" (usually highly qualified at University) are only half of each team. At least a rugby player can stand being tackled without falling down and crying "foul"

Check this vid

And if you want a really fast & furious, and very skilful game, try Rugby Sevens

England 3 Russia 0

A good win for England, exactly what was needed. A good follow up performance from the team, who all played well (except Ashley Cole). Three more wins will guarantee qualification.

Too true Bats. A really good performance - could this mean that McLaren will now become the hero of England fans?
I thought that Barry had a great game again.

The performance of the night must go to Scotland though. To win 1-0 in Paris against France is wonderful stuff.
Hoots Mon! - Scotland are now top of their group.

And of the sports pages in the press. The way it usually works is that if the team win a game then everybody in the team is marvellous, can't do a thing wrong, the most skilful players or the most brilliant managers since time began.

Then, as soon as they lose or just draw a single game, the press all lay into them

Now you know they'll lose or draw a few of those and it'll all come down to goal difference in the final game. It always does

Not if our heroes McLaren and Owen have anything to do about it.

Some of the morning papers have declared McLaren a 'tactical' genius! He only played that team because of injuries etc, no doubt the pillock will break it up and bring back Lampard, Rooney, Neville and Hargreaves. The same thing happened to Bobby Robson in World Cup 1990, he was forced to make changes and stumbled on to a winning side. At least he had the sense to stick with it.

While watching highlights of the great Scottish win in France I heard one of the commentators say that McLeish had picked a side of players who were used to playing together and were all in good form. This has always been a good policy. My mate the Ginger Gooner has been banging on about a recall for Heskey for weeks, claiming he was in great form as a target man ..... judging from last night's performance he was right, Heskey was excellent.

For the first time in ages we have a winning team that looks confident .... the old cliche is that you don't change a winning team .... take note McLaren - leave this team alone!

The results when all four featured prove it.

Sorry, those two pairings don't compliment each other, rather than a team you just have a collection of talented individuals. If they're all fit for the next game Mclaren will struggle for a suitable formation.

I always think of those sort of situations as a 'Glen Miller moment'.
Having a left footer playing on the left wing will give the team far greater width and open play. And Barry played well last night.
Which leads me to a question, someone who can be left or right handed is called ambidextrous. What is the term for someone able to be both right and left footed?

Regards

Freddy
