A good win for Celtic too which was spoiled by an idiot fan and some ridiculous theatrics from Dida.

Shame about Liverpool though.

Bats.
I must admit I thought Chelsea were magnificent last night , not often you hear a Man U fan say that.John Terry was inspirational ( If a little foolhardy ) and Drogba showed what a talent he is, he is the difference between winning and losing a game. I'm still not convinced he'll stick around , but with him and terry in the team they look a different side.
I didn't catch the celtic or liverpool highlights but from what I've read Celtic were fantastic and liverpool were consistent with their indifferent form .

The odd thing about the Liverpool result was that the Marseille Manager Eric Gerets being in charge of the Team for the first time last night. They have been really poor this season, hence his predecessor getting the bullet. It's a real shock.

What is going on in Scotland? First the National Team beats France home and away, now both Rangers and Celtic pull off incredible results in Europe. Extraordinary!

It must be all that Highland Spring Water!

I was very impressed with Celtic's performance, and it was good that the team contained a majority of Scots players. With the national team doing well and some good youngsters coming through into club sides perhaps we are on the verge of a revival of Scottich fortunes. A good Scotland team was always entertaining to watch and often put the abilities of the English players to shame. I remember the days when the old First Division was full of top quality Scots players, but the flow dried up when first Rangers (who still do) then the others went the European route. A friend of mine who is a Hearts fan says that their European players are mostly overshadowed by the home grown talent these days .... perhaps that's something some of our Premiership clubs should take note of.

Bring back the Home Internationals!

A very contradictory set of statements on the web re Chelski and their coaching staff ...

Cate is to be first team coach under Avram, Clarke to go
Cate is to Director of Football supervising Avram and Clarke
Avram to return to being DOF supervising Cate and Clarke
Cate won't work under Avram so Avram is out and Hiddink is in as DOF, Clarke to go
Cate won't work with Clarke, Clarke out, J Redknapp in
Hiddink to be coach with Cate as his assistant, Avram and Clarke to go, no DOF
Clarke and Avram don't get on, Clarke out, Cate in as replacement
Clarke and Avram don't get on, Clarke out, Redknapp in as replacement, Cate to be DOF

... confused? You will be!

Good idea on the home internationals, Bats.
Perhaps England could put a removable crossbar on the goals at the new Wembley, in light of the history of this great fixture..

Nice one Bats,
The whole Scots football thing reminds me of the story that "the King" Denis Law often tells about how, as a lad in Scotland, he supported two teams : "Scotland and whoever was playing England"! Apparently, an England supporter kept challenging him to a game of golf, confident that he would whip Law's ass and repeatedly insisting "You choose the time and place".... Law eventually relented and mischievoulsy chose the time of the World Cup Final - the year was 1966! That had the twin benefit of allowing him to avoid watching the 'auld enemy playing in the Final and also spoiling it for his opponent! On the golf Law recalls that "He was crap, but he beat me anyway - because I still couldn't help thinking about the game!" A magical player and a great story teller as well..

I'm as mad as hell and I'm not gonna take it anymore!
