Do friendlies really matter?

We need Rooney to perform and score goals when it really counts and he has failed to do that.
Let's hope he can bang in a few against Russia Wednesday to make up for that long barren period.

Dave.

Mark Lazarus. I remember him having a removal company. We were playing football on the green outside our flats and he was there with his lorry doing a removal. He had a quick kickabout with us when we sussed out who he was.

This was the League Cup Final - QPR 3 WBA 2.
Golden boy 'Rodnee' scored his wonder goal for Rangers.
Pitch was like a ploughed field IIRC - Horse of the Year Show?

Sam likened himself to Brian Clough in a recent interview saying 'I hope I don't end up like Cloughie as another 'best manager England never had'. I did laugh.

Yep, think you're right.

Looks like McLaren has at last chosen a new goalkeeper to play for England against Russia tonight.
Maybe it has something to do with the plastic pitch.

Being an England football fan can certainly send you into frequent bouts of deep depression.
England's loss to Russia now seems to indicate that our dreams of competing in Euro 2008 are almost over.
This is the team that some say rate as one of the best national teams in the world yet we cannot even qualify for a tournament.

I did not see all of the game, so cannot judge England's performance, but already there are calls for McLaren to step down.

41 years of hurt and there STILL doesn't appear to be a light at the end of the tunnel.

It was a pity McLaren had to change a winning side. A very disappointing result from a match that shouldn't have been lost.

Five minutes of madness may have cost us qualification maclaren says, but it was the earlier poor results England got in the group which has been done the damage, not the one last night.
