Maybe only someone such as the special one could handle the pressure. He at least deals with the press on his own terms. However you only have to remember what happened with his pooch to remember how barking mad the media is.Their unwarranted intrusion into the private lives of English managers and their personalised attacks are a disgrace.however the FA consistently make the wrong appointment.Cloughie was the best manager england never had.

... and Big Sam of course.

The Aston Villa owner was touting Martin O'Neill yesterday as England boss. We could do worse. He can handle the media and he was a Cloughie man. The next best thing perhaps?

Yes i think O Neill could make a go of it.Very intelligant manager.I think he could handle the situation.Having been at the Arsenal AGM yesterday i am pretty confident that AW would not touch it with a bargepole.

Wenger knows nothing about English players anyway so not much point offering him the job

Judging by his performance as England boss, neither does Steve McLaren!

Just seeing if you were paying attention.Yes they have but apparently according to AW we do have some young ENGLISH players in the youth team.So there is hope for England for the 2012 Euro Competition. or the 2014 World Cup.Till then you will just have to do a few crosswords to fill in the time.

I saw him say that on TV. Let's hope they are good players. Chelski's youth academy is bringing through some good English lads too.

Wasn't Ray Parlour really of the Graham era? (and a bit crap)

And let's not forget Frannie Jeffers.

Mourinho certainly held the respect of most of the players who played for him.

Drogba was so devastated by the special ones departure that he has now stated publicly that he wants to leave Chelsea.
There may be others to follow. There are rumours of a split in the Chelsea squad.

Nothing an extra £30,000 a week wouldn't put right I'm sure. Droggy thinks Avram put the knife into Jose (which allegedly he did) and so wants out. With Lampard certainly on his way at some point that will be the two main dissenters gone. If we can get through till the New Year still doing OK I think the new regime may work out fine. We shall see.

There's a report on the BBC that Drogba regrets ever making them comments. I also heard a BBC commentator maybe suggesting that if McLaren gets the push if England don't qualify for Euro 2008, then maybe Mourinho maybe the guy to step in. There's a juicy thought. O'Neill would also be a very good choice and I have to agree with Bats that those that played under Cloughie and have managed well, are a very good chioce to lead the team.

Sorry to see the England team lose to South Africa 15-6 in the Rugby World Cup Final.
It could have been so different if England had not had a perfectly good try disallowed by the Australian video ref. Very controversial decision to say the least.

Still the rugby lads showed a hell of a lot more bulldog spirit and courage than McLaren's lame lot have ever shown.

Let's hope Lewis Hamilton can rescue the weekend by being the first rookie to win the F1 World Drivers Championship.

Dave.
