I saw about ten minutes of the egg chasing last night between dvds and it just looked like lots of fat blokes jumping on each other to be honest. All it did for me was to prove that video refs are a definate no no in football. It also proved that video refs still don't stop controversy and prove absolutely nothing.

Each to their own but I just can't see the attraction of rugby.

Can't see AW leaving a top premiership side to take over a third division rated side.

It could have been so different if England had not had a perfectly good try disallowed by the Australian video ref. Very controversial decision to say the least.

Still the rugby lads showed a hell of a lot more bulldog spirit and courage than McLaren's lame lot have ever shown.

Let's hope Lewis Hamilton can rescue the weekend by being the first rookie to win the F1 World Drivers Championship.

Dave.
I agree,Dave. They shouldn't be ashamed of themselves,as they put up a good fight against South Africa, who was the better side. As opposed to the overpaid Mclaren's lot,the England rugby team put their heart into the game and was driven with passion. I think, after the disallowed try, they were disheartened.

Rugby is a bore which should be consigned to Sentanta forever.I did not watch 1 minute of the overhyped legitamised violence. After all you can see that "sport" every Friday night outside most High Street pubs.Give me a 0-0 draw at my local Rymans Div 1 North team any day.

Well said I avoided the whole thing too, thank heavens its over

If I read one more letter/article in the Torygraph knocking football and extolling the virtues of this "sport" Talk about propaganda, to be expected from that paper I suppose.

Sorry Oprhs, have to disagree with you. If you think Rugby is a bore, you should try getting hold of a copy of the Baa Baas v The All Blacks from the 1970's. It's the greatest match ever with the greatest ever players. I watch it at least three or four times a year just to enjoy a great game.

Then why is it a minority sport rarely played outside the home counties.More people are watching West Ham v Sunderland around the world on tv at this moment than watched last nights"World"Cup final.I was in Vienna last weekend, not a million miles from Paris and not a word did i read or see about this "sport".

Cricket is the bore for me!
Anyway,I know a few die hard Middlesbrough fans who would rather go and watch local minnows Billingham Synthonia FC and Billingham Town FC,than pay the exorbitant prices at the Riverside. They are the first to say they get better entertainment at Town and the Synners.
Even now, some of them are like old ladies smoking clay pipes, doing their knitting around the guillotine waiting for the cart with Gareth Southgate on.

Agree with Marky, cricket is so snoring, oops boring, no right first time. And as for big gily rounders, baseball, and all the stats that go with it

I don't mind a bit of American football, but a good game of footy from Blighty and a good rugby union game, don't like rugby league that much. I wonder what dear old Eddie Waring would make of it all?

Default How you play the game

Say what you like chaps but cricket is a gentleman's game.
That might explain why, unlike the now soulless game of soccer, it doesn't suffer grown men throwing themselves to the ground without physical contact, opposing fans that have to be seperated to prevent violence, players with an utter lack of loyalty and sense of history towards their clubs, a destructive and over-priced transfer market for players and a man in the middle who lives in fear of his life if the decision doesn't suit one set of supporters. Also, missing is a hard core of spectators who have no problem in urinating on the way into the ground or swearing for fun in the prescence of women and children. I have seen all this and more as a former football nut, but I finally have had enough of the over-hyped and cynical business that the beautiful game has become.
Why are football supporters settling for such a fiasco?

You dont say where you have experienced this behaviour as you are now based in Ireland.Since cricket is a non contact sport, unless you count ball to groin, arm head or any other vulnerable part of the batsmens anatomy.Op[position and home fans mix quite amicably outside the Emirates.Players have short careers so why shouldnt they maximise their earnings. If someone else offered you 10000 per year would you say no out of loytalty to your current employer? At least officials are backed up by their governing body unlike Darryl Hare !There are a great number of women who are sitting around me at football. On Saturday there was a teenager 2 seats to my left a girl about 10 on my right and her mum next to her.Would they be attending if they had experienced the problems that you claim exist?Maybe some day you should come to the Emirates and decide for yourself. The only problem is that at the present time over 60000 fill up the ground each game and there are now 41000 on the waiting list for season tickets. Some "fiasco" !
