Default As they say in Merseyside "Calm down"

Hi Orph,
I have had quite a time reading all the doom and gloom in the forum about Liverpool's apparant demise. As Mark Twain famously said, "The report about my death has been greatly exaggerated"! To remind all the axemen reading along, Liverpool , along with Arsenal, are the only undefeated team in the Premiership. Obviously Arsenal's rampaging form allied to Liverpool's need to recover their own sets up this weekend's clash at Anfield rather nicely. They are still very likely to qualify from their European group, as 2 wins and a draw should see them through. Like AC Milan, Liverpool seem to save their best for the European stage, belying their often indifferent league form. Along the way in Europe they like to keep things interesting by flattering the likes of Besiktas. Good for football.
I seem to recall that after walloping Liverpool twice in the space of 4 days last year Arsenal's season crumbled, so we should not read too much into this early stage (like those muppets on Sky Sports are inclined to). I challenge you all to come back to me at the end of season and review the events of the year. My expectation is that Liverpool will advance once again to the latter stages of Europe and will finish in the top 3 of the Premiership, if not higher.!

[quote=orpheum;91205]I wonder if you saw a Liverpool appeal for a penalty for handball after about 75 minutes.Does Gerrard hope that there are Clattenberg clones all over Europe? If Stevie boy that is palying well i would hate to watch you when you were playing badly.

I'm as mad as hell and I'm not gonna take it anymore!

I think you misunderstand us us Mr G, there is no ''doom and gloom'' about Liverpool being a bit crap lately, most of us are really happy about it!

Bats,
You are a hard man to beat.
Faster reflexes than any goalie!
However, as Julian Cleary might say, I will endeavour to "slip one between your legs"!
A "goal" that is..
Regards,
Mr G.

To be honest Platini is pulling a fast one as he knows Cup Winners from smaller nations will be despatched in the qualifying rounds. It's just a ruse to get them to vote for him.

Last nights viewing of the game Spurs V Gatafe was extremely entertaining, particularly when the word had gotten round the crowd that Jol was no more.In the time that Arsene Wenger has been with us Spurs have had 7 managers.Says it all really.
The fact is that i dont regard them as our real rivals in London anymore. It is of course Chelski.Anyone wanting a good laugh on this subject will no doubt be rewarded if they go to the Online Gooner.
Next for the chop?Benitez.

Poor ol' Jol, it was just a matter of time really. I wonder if Bolton are a bit sick. They moved Heaven and Earth to get Megson (why?), if they'd waited a week longer they could have approached Jol. If Pierre Littbarski doesn't get the Norwich job, it would be good to see Jol at Carrow Road.

Default Remember, remember

Orph,
Why are you taking so much joy in the departure of one of the few managers with a real sense of integrity and dignity? I care not about Spurs but Jol impressed me as a manager and a personality in this age of spineless soccer..
I fear you are heading for a fall, old boy. Remember Arsenal's triumphant double-hammering of Liverpool last season ? Of course you do, as it heralded the beginning of the end of Arsenal's season! I am impressed by Arsenal's resurgence post-Thierry Henry, done without splashing out for over-priced and hyped players but I would lower your trumpet - otherwise it might be hitting a few bum notes later in the season!. Regarding your prediction of Benitez' demise, you should be aware that history shows that Liverpool do not go through managers like socks. His achievements so far are good, despite infuriating lack of consistency but the man is qiality and it would be the height of folly to jump on the bandwagon that you seem to have a front seat in!

I suggest that you watch the news and read thiws mornings headlines in the sports pages. The American owners are making it quite clear that anything less than the Premiereship title will be failure.Well they better get used to failure like Liverpool fans. The only true yardstick of success is the domestic League title, which Liverpool have not won since 1990 and are not likely to win this season.I tell you what why not give Rafa the chop now and i have an idea what about going for Gary Megson as new manager. That should be fun.

Gary Megson has had no real success of note as a manager ..... can anyone please tell me why Bolton were so desperate to get him?
