Did any of you watch Motd last night? They had a female commentator covering the L'Pool/Chorlton game and she was dreadful. I don't wish to be un-PC but she struggled to be heard over the background noise and her commentary was dullness personified. Here's an excerpt:

I'm sure she mentions "Zheng Zhi the China captain" about 5 times.

I feel like Harry Enfield doing the 'Women, know your place!' skits.

she sounded like an excited schoolboy/girl watching a match in the playground.There are lots of good female sport journalists and commentators but she aint one.Nothing to do with gender she is just no good.

We were spared her last week I thought they might have realized that she was terrible....but no back this week and yes just as terrible as before! For a sport with a noisy background most female voices are just not suitable I’m afraid, a booming “Peggy Mount” would do fine though but the shrieking of this lady is just awful. I know we are going to get hammered as reactionary old buffers though for daring to speak out!

The same lady had been giving live update reports from matches for BBC Radio over the last few months. (Five Live I believe).
I heard her through the BBC World Service and thought she was decidedly average then. Her reports and interviews were very weak. How did she get promoted to television? She sounds completely out of her depth.:

Surely the Beeb can find a better commentator in their ranks.

At least there has been some good news for football fans in Leeds this season (other than Bates hopefully slinging his hook) - my hometown team, Farsley Celtic, were promoted to the Nationwide Conference last night!

Five or six years ago they weren't much better than a pub team. Their rise has been incredible.

Nice to see a fan of lower league football on here...instead of all thes glory hunters !!

If there was any justice in the world then, in the next five years, there could be a Farsley-Leeds league derby

West Brom into the Championship play-off final at Wembley.
There they will meet Derby with the victor being promoted back into the premiership.
As promotion into the premiership has a monetary value of some 60 million squid I reckon the play-off's are now bigger in importance than the FA Cup.

Agreed .... but the FA Cup still retains a bit of it's old charm for nostalgia freaks like me .... 'we're gonna win the cup, we're gonna win the cup. ee ay addio we're gonna with the cup'
