The sell by date for Spurs managers are similar to dairy products.

To be honest by the time he left us,under a cloud, his tactics were becoming a bore.If wrighty didnt score then no one did.So by the time he went to Spurs he was a busted flush. He then indulged in a power struggle with whichever nonentity was at that time Spurs chairman,it may still have been Sugar. He came out to the press complaining that his transfer budget was inadequate. The Chairman siad that this was a breach of confidence and promptly fired him.THE chairman then if memory serves me right went and hired Christian Gross who competes with Dr Josef Vengloss as the wrost foreign managerial appointment ever.

Whilst I am happy to concede that that may well be the case in recent times, only a fool would argue that Billy Nick is not right at the top of the tree as far as English managers are concerned. I recall the comment on his death:

St Peter to Cloughie: "Move over, the governor's arrived."

Yet he oversaw a period of decline in Spurs fortunes which 2 years after his resignation led to their relegation.I used to go to Spurs when we were not at home to have a good laugh as they lost to such greats as Boro Sheffield Utd and leicester city.

At least he never had to be shamed into offering a side a replay after stealing it from them like a certain french manager. Bit below the belt but then so is your pathetic comment about one of the true greats.

Still, it must be galling for a gooner to have to acknowledge that the first British club to win a proper European trophy was Spurs.

Since Spurs have long since ceased to be a club that could aspire to win anything, other than the Coca Cola Championship next year, what Spurs did 25 or 40 years ago is of little concern. After all most of the Spurs fans attending their matches are to young to remeber them winning a trophy.
