The World Cup qualifying draw has been made and guess what?

England meet Croatia and Andorra AGAIN!
A chance for revenge or just more embarrassment.

Hold on. That's not a bad idea.

Talking of Wembley. I thought I had read somewhere that the new stadium had a closing roof. If that is the case, how come the pitch was close to being waterlogged before the start of the England game? Surely the roof could have been closed under those circumstances. Haven't they found where the switch to the roof is yet?
Those pictures showing McClown waiting for an umbrella before going onto the pitch showed how heavy the rain was. The fans got pi**** on in more ways than one.
How could this happen in a brand new "state of the art", "best in the world" football stadium with a closing roof?
What went wrong?

Dave.
No replies yet.

Does anyone know the story behind the Wembley roof?

Dave.

Not one of the premiereship pitches cut up badly at the weekend. At the Emirates the sprinklers went on as usual 10 minutes before kick off!Doesnt that tell you all you need to know about the poor preparation of the Wembley pitch and the folly of letting the NFL game take place 3 weeks before the big match.

The NFL should have gone to Twickenham not wembley, we all know how naff the FA board are so I'm not surprised at the state of the pitch. What a bunch of amateurs we have running a professional game.

I doubt that Twickers would have let them in.In any event the number of games they can hold is strictly limited.I bet the FA have a contract with the NFL which goes on for a couple of years yet.So even if we dont get sabotaged by another wally with the brolly we will be sabotaged by a lot of yanks who are in any event far more interested in making money out of the Premiereship than out of exploiting american football here.

Quite right, too. Twickers is for a proper sport played by gentlemen.

It is the local residents who determine this not the RUFC.Anyway you know the saying about Rugby being a game for hooligans etc.Mind you since you are a Spurs supporter you would notice the difference between any code of football since they cant play any well.

Biggest laugh of the weekend being Defoe missing the injury time pen against West Ham.The whole house rocked with laughter.
this just beat the moment when Mile Reilley denied Robbie Keane a stone walled cert penalty in the frst half.

A similarly mind numbingly boring game but the poor old Americans have to play wearing a suit of armour

Never thought I would say this but after the England fiasco I hope that Arsenal win the League, FA Cup and the Champions League! Most satisfying not to see Gerard, Lampard and the rest of that mob win anything.

I was so disappointed (but not surprised) by how bad we were that I think I agree with you Harbottle.

Even as a Chelski fan I am fed up with Lampard. He is the epitome of Roy Keane's 'bigheads', the sooner he goes the better ... Gerrard seems to think he has a divine right not to be tackled by anyone and that ticks me off too. Although they didn't play on the night Ferdinand and Rooney are another couple who are too big for their lucratively sponsored boots.

The Arse have their share of Keane's boys too, Gallas being the worst, and Sagne has very bad hair, but they do look the business.

One can't really expect the colonials to be up for a real man's game without the need for body armour.

Whilst I might agree with your second sentence, I shall have disagree with your first.

I quite agree that gridiron is one of the longest (lasts over four hours) and most boringly slow games on the planet.
Yet it also has to be mentioned that even with all their body armour a number of players die each year playing the game. Especially at college level.
