Then why didn't Ranieri win the league with Chelsea?

Haven't a clue as I'm not a Chelsea fan.

I think Capello would be a fine choice as long as his English is up to scratch.

Jose did sign a few donkeys but at least he realised they weren't up to scratch and offloaded them asap. Kalou is improving all the time and Pizarro is quality, but both of them have to fight for a place against the mighty Drogba. With the great man out of action till Feb 2008 it's a good chance for them and Sheva to show what they can do. Speaking of Sheva, him and Ballack were not really Jose buys, they were bought against his wishes. Ben Haim is doing OK as is Belletti. Avram is doing a great job but it must be remembered that this is still the side that Jose built.

Of course Marcello Lippi is also still in the frame and he HAS already won a World Cup with Italy.

The top is wide open now .... is this the start of a 'winter slump' for the leaders?

We're a different side when he cuts out the wholesale changes and picks his best XI. We'll be meeting your lot after the glams.

Liverpool always seem to turn on the great performances in Europe.

If the players were racehorses I'm sure they would have been swabbed after their lacklustre performance against Reading.

Forget Liverpool, Man U., Arsenal and Chelsea.

The greatest performance in English football for some time has to be the part-timers of Chasetown making it through to the third round of the FA Cup.

Chasetown play in the British Gas Division One Midlands - three divisions below the Conference league.
Yet they beat Port Vale 1-0 last night in a ground that was filled to it's 2,000 capacity.
They now play Cardiff in the next round.

Who ever said that the FA Cup had lost it's romance?

Wonderful stuff.

Can Chasetown beat Cardiff at home?

I sincerely hope so!

Default McClaren's Foot In Mouth Award

Former England football manager Steve McClaren has fought off tough competition from the US President George W. Bush to win a dreaded "Foot In Mouth" Award from the Plain English Campaign.

McClaren was hailed for a supreme example of gobbledegook in talking about star player Wayne Rooney - " He is inexperienced, but he's experienced in terms of what he's been through".

Bush came second for - "All I can tell you is that when the governor calls, I answer his phone".

Thats about the only thing McClaren is likely to win, still with a bank balance like his who would not wish to be as incompetent!

Capello it is then. This should be very interesting but his CV commands a lot of respect.
