On Sky Sports news last night, lots of people were complaining that an Italian was in charge and not an Englishman................why? I want England to win!!

If Fabs brings us success who cares? I follow footy like the rest of us and from what I think I know, Jose & Fabs were the best two CVs on offer. Fabs will have got it because the sub editors can do loads with his name!

Glenn Hoddle spoke this week of improving coaches at every level, not just the first team. Clear common sense. If Capello brings some Italian 'direction' to our game, that's fine with me. Let him run fully staffed with Italians if that's how he wants to do it. Get Barwick to keep the press hounds off his back and let him do the job.

Either a glittering CV will get still better or ....................what's the Italian of meeting your Waterloo............................

.....You couldn't hear it, if they were shooting at me with howitzers!

Tony Adams was moaning away on BBC1 this morning. If he thinks it should be an english coach, who should it be?Harry, well he is of course still assisting the police with their enquiries. If they hadnt hounded Sven out of the job we would probably have qualified.

Meeting your 'Sack of Constantinople' perhaps?

Capello does have a fine record and if we couldn't get Jose he would seem to be the obvious choice. I remember Barwick saying that he was not going to rush into making an appointment. I'd hate to seem him when he's in a hurry!

An English manager would have been nice but there appears to be no one up to the job at the moment.

When Sven was appointed, the highest finishing English Premier League Mananger the previous season was..........John Gregory at Aston Villa!!!

Good reason why Sven got the job. There is a dearth of proper decent English Managers, one of the reasons is that they still treat it as a job, whilst the Foreigners approach it as a profession. There is no comparison, unfortunately.

Capello has the potential to be the best appointment since Sir Alf.

They have to find a good interpreter first.
Those England press conferences will never be quite the same again if Fabio cannot explain his selections and tactics in English.

Then again, Russian coach Gus Hiddink cannot speak a word of Russian, yet they qualified in front of England for Euro 2008.

What do the British press know anyway, they are generally speaking a bunch of morons who bear some responsability for what is happening.I would imagine that any English manager would think twice at the prospect of being in a post where evrything in his life will come under scrutiny.Know what i mean Harry boy!

But the whole 'campaign' to get Harry the England job was driven by his mates in the media!

I'm sure he would have done an okay job but the most successful English manager of recent years was... Steve McLaren - and look where that got us.

He'd have done ok but Harry will always be known as a transfer 'wheeler dealer' and there's far too many bung allegations surrounding him. (the reason Venables had to step down)

I am a Harry fan but I think the current situation definitely ruled him out of contention, if he had ever been a serious candidate in the first place. England's statistical 'good record' under McClaren, if that is the case, can only have been achieved by luck rather than good judgement on his part.

Capello is a hard taskmaster which may be what our 'golden generation' needs .... someone to give them a kick up the ass! I am interested to see what changes he makes. I think Terry is a great defender but his anti-social attitude to referees does not look good for an England captain. If Gerrard is to be the next captain, as has been reported, then that looks like the end for Lampard, Capello is too canny to try and force them into the same side. I hope Beckham gets his 100th cap and is then asked to play a 'secondary' role as a player, but his experience could be useful with the youngsters. IMHO he should be drafted into Stuart Pearce's coaching team (if he wants it) so that we don't 'do a Bobby Moore' on him.

Also, let's hope the "News Of The Screws" don't suddenly uncover some hidden secret like they did with Sven!

Wonderful football from West Bromwich Albion as they beat Charlton 4-2 to go top of the Championship.
A real treat to watch.

Tony Mowbray may yet be an "English" England manager of the future.

Latest quote from Fabio Capello -

" I will win the World Cup for England. If I didn't think that, I would not have taken the job."

He's certainly not short of confidence.
Yet!

Harry had a lot to say yesterday ....

"Do you have to be a super-coach to manage England? Does Steven Gerrard need coaching? Of course not. Or Ashley Cole, John Terry, Rio Ferdinand, Micah Richards, Frank Lampard, Wayne Rooney? Top coaches? It's a fallacy. I've seen one, maybe two in my lifetime, no more.To be manager of England, you don't have to be a great coach. they don't exist."

He went on ....

"I'd like to have spoken to Brian. I know I was never going to get it, but I'm obviously not important. I've only managed for more than 1,000 games, 13 seasons in the Premier League, fifth in the Premier League. Great, talk to Sir Alex Ferguson. Then talk to the others. Great, but why not talk to me? I have plenty to say to him."

But it seems not enough to say for the Authorities. His reputation goes before him, everyone in Football speaks quite openly about him, that's why he is being spoken to.

By the way, what has he ever won?? Arry boy?? Don't make me laugh!!

The last England Manager who said, on the day he was appointed, he would win the World Cup, was the late great Sir Alf. Not a man who could ever be accused of shouting his mouth off. The only England Manager who ever delivered.

If Capello says it, he must believe it.

I favour a rule where not only the players but managers must from the nation they represent at international level. Sink or swim with an Englishman is my view, this character is going to walk off with millions and nobody is going to tell me that he will be heartbroken if England end up failing to qualify or winning anything. Football is not rocket science play people in their proper positions and stick to a system the players are comfortable playing, neither of which the idiot McClaren could manage.
