I've just been rereading the Thread Bats , and after asking you to name more than two great Scottish keepers I didn't realise you had already named one "David harvey " .
I Presume that was the keeper you named above ( Ex Leeds united and Scotland , born in Leeds but scottish on his fathers side ) I personally considered him to be an excellent keeper ,who was kept out of the leeds side by Gary sprake in the early days but proved to be a far better goalie than sprake ever was .

Hi smiffy, 'twas indeed David Harvey I was referring to. He was indeed a far better keeper than Sprake. Sprake never really got over Revie doing a 'Jim Leighton' on him in the 70 Cup Final and ended up at Birmingham. IIRC he suffered an horrific car accident which ended his career.

I just researched Sprake on Wikipedia. It was a severe back injury (which involved a near fatal blood clot) that ended his career. I don't know why I recall him having a car accident.

I also came across this interesting snippet ...

I'm still being thanked for day I hit Gould - icWales

I solved my personal mystery ... it was David Harvey who had the car accident. It didn't finish his career but he lost his place in the team to David Stewart and never got it back.

After the accident he played in the NASL for Vancouver before another car crash forced him to return to England ... and Leeds! He finally left them for good in 1985.

I have been listening to Chelski v Villa on the radio. It sounds like a great match, MOTD is a must see tonight ...... hang on a minute, Carvalho has just been sent off for what was described as a 'disgraceful' two footed challenge of Agbonlahor. Here we go again .....

4-3 to Chelski ... apparently Reo-Coker has been kicking the crap out of everyone all afternoon and gave away yet another free-kick on the edge of the box which Ballack scored from.

Ashley Cole sent off for handball on the line .... 3rd sending off of the game (Zat Knight got his marching orders in the first half). A bit of argy-bargy .... Alex and Ballack in the book .... as is Marlon Harewood .... Gareth Barry scores from the spot .... 4-4. Full time ... phew!

Watched the game live over here Bats and it was excellent entertainment. Villa were well on top before the Zac Knight sending off.
Villa certainly deserved the point.

What next for Chelsea? Two sendings off and Lampard injured. They may be struggling to put out a full strength side.
One thing that stood out in the Chelsea attack - Pizarro is a lazy bas****.
When the passes and crosses went into the penalty box Pizarro went missing.

Great night of football though. Started live on tele with Exeter 4 Torquay 3, then crossed to Chelsea 4 Villa 4 then onto Sunderland 0 Man.U 4.
Got to bed around 3.00am.

I went to Chelsea yesterday, more a comedy of errors than a great game.

4-4 sounds great and it was a goal fest, but the overall technical quality of the match was poor and riddled with mistakes. Villa should really have won, they seemed a little overawed and a little nervous being ahead. Agbonlahor definitely a star in the making.

You would never believe that Chelsea had spent the sums they have, not much to show for it and way, way behind Manure and the Arse.

I can't believe that idiots like Carvalho and the other player who was sent off yesterday for a two-footed lunge (can't remember which match) would still do it after all the recent publicity. At least they didn't argue about it. I did like it when the other guy went down on his knees as if to pray for forgiveness ... very amusing. Both penalties in the Chelski match were harsh but Sheva did score a corker. I agree that they are well short of the style and creativity of the other top sides, they are a bit like George Graham's Arse side of a few years ago, grinders. Arse have hit a mini-blip bit will probably bounce back. It does look like developing into a two horse race.

I still expect Utd to pull away and finish maybe 10 points clear. Chelsea now look no different than they did under Mourinho.
