Dave.
Droggy is always whining about something .... he's been saying he wants to leave since he arrived. I expect he'll go at some point but he'll be difficult to replace.

Good game at the Bridge tonight, with a few silly tackles and some handbags thrown in for good measure. It's the best I have seen Chelski play for ages, however the lack of strikers did show. Pizarro played well but he's not a target man while Wright-Phillips and Malouda did OK too. Ballack impressed me for the first time in a Chelsea shirt but ol' Hilarious made a whopper for Everton's goal. Hopefully the second leg will be just as good .... with the same result as well!

I see you Aussies have been having fun in the cricket; great team but not quite sportsmen?
Hi Steve,

Yes, first it was the infamous "Bodyline" series between England and Australia that caused so much controversy in the 1930's.

Now the press are labeling the Australia v. India controversy as "Bollyline".

The Indian's certainly know how to curry favour with the ICCA.

Did you ever see that God awful Bodyline Aussie TV series, and they have the nerve to call us whingeing Poms! I'm certainly no Cricket expert but the West Indies sides of the 1970's were playing in the much the same way!

Fat Sam sacked/resigned at Newcastle! Could happen to anybody more deserving. I'd normally say manager's should be given more time but his bloated ego that he was deserving of a 'big job' or the England post used to hack me off.

Big Sam is a manager of limited ability. He put together a team of long ball merchants at Bolton who over achieved for a while but were exposed when Little Sam tried to get them to play proper football, they just couldn't do it. I now think that's why they moved Heaven and Earth to get Megson in .... he's cut from the same cloth a Allardyce and has got the team playing long ball again, with improved results. Now Big Sam has come a cropper at Newcastle .... I'm not surprised, those players are so inept as a team they couldn't even cope with his long ball tactics!

A Toon fan e-mailed the Tybe Tees News and said this was his third season as a ticket holder and they Newcastle Utd have gone through three managers - surely there is a need to look beyond the manager at what is going on.

But what sort of idiot plays long-ball when your two main goal-getters are pacey gnomes? There's Viduka but he's hardly going to run riot. Alan Smith and Geremi are more 'workmanlike' buys and the purchase and subsequent assault charges for Joey Barton probably sealed his fate. Having sold Dyer and Bowyer I was surprised Newcy gave the green light to another player with suspect temprement.

It was a strange marriage, Sam was the antithesis of everything Newcastle fans (in their delusion) demand. They probably need an experienced manager who has previously dealt with intense media pressure at a previous club; Sir Bobby was probably the last?

I would like to think Shearer is too canny to take the job if offered it. They definitely need a manager who has experience of 'the big time' .... Jose is still available, Rafa might be at the end of the season. I wonder what the odds are against McClaren getting the job.

I'm sure there'll be a clamour for Shearer but would he be able to coach? IIRC you have to get special dispensation if the manager lacks a fifa pro licence... erm... like Avram Graht.

But seriously, somebody with no coaching experience is a massive gamble. Everyone is a good manager when viewing replays of MotD.
