I totally agree.

I can never get my head around these qualifications though. Southgate had to get a special dispensation and apparently Avram had to as well. But Avram has managed at international level so do you not have to have a pro licence to manage national teams. Klinsmann took over Germany with no problems despite not having held down a professional coaching job beforehand.

If anyone can explain I would be grateful.

Harry Redknapp the even money favourite with bookies for the Toon job.

Do they know something that we don't ?

I dont think that Shearer has got his coach's licence. In any event he would be a mug to take the job at this moment in time.He is on a hiding to nothing.Remember Andy Gray was offered the job of Everton before Moyes but turned it down,Hw obviously knew what side his bread was buttered on.

Until Big Al takes the job and fails, anyone taking the job, has Al's shadow hanging over them.

I used to think the Geordie fans deserved better, but 6 managers in 10 years starts to look self inflicted...............!

I'd always heard Harry loved living in Bournemouth and to my mind at least Pompey & Newcastle are similar sorts of clubs. What progression going to the frozen norf?

What if it all goes poo-bah and they get relegated..........................?

.....You couldn't hear it, if they were shooting at me with howitzers!

Dave.
Redknapp is far too astute to accept Newcastle's poisoned chalice .
I think It would take a personality like Keegan , a lot of luck , and patience from the Fans and the owners , otherwise I can't see Newcastle winning anything ever again .

I May be getting older ,but I refuse to grow up

According to the Daily Mirror,he is in two minds about taking up the job. If he gets it,he still wants to live in Dorset and have a private jet to take him up to Newcastle.

maybe. I think it is a bit of a tall order myself. There is plenty of lovely property in the area. Kevin Keegan lived on the Wynyard estate when he was in charge of Newcastle, and including the time he was England coach (I remember seeing the press outside after he had resigned).
Of course,if he wants a coastal home, there are two houses in Seaton Carew going up for grabs,as the owners won't be using them for a while.

Didn't Newcastle sack Kevin Bond as a result of the Panorama programme about 'bungs'. It would be extremely hypocritical of them to hire Harry Redknapp who was featured in the same programme. It would also give Kevin Bond more clout in his unfair dismissal case against Newcastle.

Well, at least if he ever plays up front with Droggy, they can moan and sulk the opposition to defeat!
