I read on the net yesterday that there has been an offer from the Far East to buy out the current Liverpool owners, and that they will install their own man if they are successful. If the current lot have been talking to Jurgen the German it sucks .... first Chelski, then Spurs now Liverpool .... it seems loyalty is a rare commodity in the football world.

I don't think they've taken too kindly to Rafa telling the press of their shortcomings and this is now personal rather than anything to do with football.
I presume Hicks is hoping that Rafa will now resign (why else tell the press?) and save them millions in compensation. Part of me wiould like Rafa to walk away and tell them to shove it, but I can't blame him in waiting to be sacked and have his contract paid up.

The only Manager in living memory that resigned from a Club and walked away empty handed was...............Ruud Gullit at Newcastle. They just don't do that, they have learned about signing a contract and getting it fully paid up, notwithstanding they have been a failure. It could be the last job they get.

Allardyce has been paid £4m in compensation!!! Not bad for 6 months work plus 6 months salary already paid. It's all gone mad, the lunatics are definitely running the asylum.

Actually, I wouldn't have been at all surprised if Redknapp had taken the job. It is a certainty that whoever takes it will be hounded out - and paid a fortune in compensation - by the clamour for someone with absolutely no experience of management to take over.

It's truly pathetic the way football fans [especially on Tyneside] can think that a player will automatically make a great manager.

All the best

Actually, Luton's Kevin Blackwell has just done exactly that. The club are so cash-strapped they can no longer afford to pay him, so he's given them a months notice, thereby eschewing the compensation he would have been due if they'd fired him for cost reasons. Fair play to him...

Reading the business sections in some newspapers Dubai International Capital (LFC' original bidders) are waiting in the wings to replace the Americans who are finding it very difficult to raise the money.

Arabs eye £500m Liverpool buy-out | News | Guardian Unlimited Football

It seems that if ever there was one line in a film that summed up the last 40 years in British Society it was Deep Throat telling Bob Woodward to 'follow the money'.

There is about as much chance of Liverpool groundsharing with Everton as there is of Spurs doing likewise with Arsenal. In fact if Spurs do extend White Hart Lane they will ground share with the Hammers for 2 years. They deserve each other!

I know all the Spurs/Arsenal stuff etc but in Italy Inter & AC share, Roma & Lazio and Juve & Torino. Don't get any more intense than those....

Maybe why they are such Big clubs and have been for decades.....?

....Ok.OK.so maybe not Torino......................

.....You couldn't hear it, if they were shooting at me with howitzers!

Slightly different situation in Italy, in that neither club own the grounds they play in, they are city-owned municipal stadia...so the clubs have little choice.

I was told yesterday that the last English manager to win a trophy was Steve McLaren (Boro's Carling Cup win). Is that right?
