The two local teams here are Billingham Synthonia FC (FA Vase semi-finalists last season) and Billingham town FC.

Default The Second Coming

Give the man a chance, Penfold.
Even if Newcastle continue to lose from now on, at least they will be much more exciting to watch!
I would "love it, love it" if they can flourish under Keegan (except when they play the mighty Reds (Liverpool) that is....

Trouble is, he can't seem to organise a defence and that has been Newcastle's achilles heel since he was originally there.

(nearly as bonkers as Spurs buying another striker)

My laughter is mostly based on the lists of international big names and Premiership big hitters that were touted as candidates...and they've gone for a man who admitted his lack of tactical nous and who no-one has employed in management for three years..

EDIT: In fact, in an interview last October, he said he Hadn't been to a match in three years.....

Default A perm-anent solution?

Agree with this but he did well with Newcastle first time around.
His struggles since may well have sharpened him up...

Well, anything is possible....but no-one suggested Terry Venables as a replacement for Martin Jol.....

But how many 'experienced' managers would attack Man Utd and wallop Chelsea with a Newcastle side? More thinking with the head rather than the heart might have brought home a league title under Keegan.

Is it still Roy Town? Whenever passing through, every shop in Wroxham seemed to be owned by him!

I used to enjoy those Football Combination games at Carrow Road, being a season ticket holder the games were free. They were played on a Saturday in those days so a couple of thousand or more regularly attended.

But he was at least in touch with the game then...he's been out of the loop for years since.

They still are! The place is still dominated by Roys shops ... the man himself died a few years ago but I believe it's still a family run business. It hasn't changed much.

Smile Why Aye Man!

I am just speechless!

To hear the Geordie fans on the radio, being interviewed, 'Keegan's The Man' they yell, 'Keegan's the Man'.................even JC would have loved that sort of blind faith, first or second time around!

I like KK, he always seems a genuine bloke but the hysteria (and there isn't another word I can think of) from the Newcastle fans.........

Rumour is Big Al will join the coaching staff. This could lead to a lot of frustrated women on Tyneside as the menfolk would find that combo better than sex.

What else can you say......................

You're right - it is absolutely ridiculous. But then, it always has been up here. To be honest, whenever they get a new manager, it is the return of the "golden days"- though no-one is old enough to remember them. I'm sure that's why they play in B/W - so the fans don't realise quite how long it is since they won anything

I don't mind a fan thinking their club is the best in the world - but here, they actually believe it's true

It's obvious why no top manager would take the job - he'd know he was simply keeping the seat warm for someone with absolutely no experience to come along as the messiah.

Actually Chris Coleman could be in the frame as Assistant Manager.
He worked with Keegan at Fulham and resigned just this week from his job in Spanish football.

Could be a decent combo.

Apparently Chelsea have made it clear that if Drogba goes to Barca they will in return expect Messi as part of the deal.

Same with AC Milan. If Drogba chooses them it will only be if Kaka is included in the deal.
