There is a thoery that certain pop records remind one of former girlfriends and lovers, and consequently both the Artist and year of release are easily recalled.
Whilst generally my tastes are varied, I will cite the following tunes as a case for stirring romantic memories. "Daydream Believer" 1967 for Janet Large Theme tune to Owen MD 1971 for Sonia Babic "Could it be Forever" 1973 for Anne Harris "Roll Away the Stone" 1973 for Beverly Bebb "A song for Europe" 1973 for Jacqui Parry "No more Heroes" 1977 for Gail Craven "Wuthering Heights" 1978 for Gail Craven "Just one more night" 1978 for Sandra Woodward "Denis Denis" 1978 for Bernice Murphy (a 1979 romance) "A Walk in the Park" 1980 for Kirsten Stromming "Woman in Love" 1980 for Andrea Ferris "Always Somewhere" 1983 for Tina Blech "Big in Japan" 1984 for my wife Sue I'm sure you've all got tales to tell. |

Sorry
It wasn't meant to be self indulgent. Perhaps I should have just mentioned the songs as turning points. I'm just a hopeless Romantic. Was only 18 in 1977 so understandably only "scored" (like Woody Allen's Moose )with the last seven. Last edited by scholes; 31-03-2008 at 08:33 AM. |

I tried very hard to listen to all of those, but I have words going through my head that I remember my Dad saying to me - so I've decided to play safe and 'button it'!

Back in late 1967 I heard a song which changed the way I really listened to music. It was 'Nights In White Satin' by The Moody Blues and I've been a loyal fan ever since.
Will be seeing them in Cardiff at the end of September |

They blended Classical music with progressive rock in a distinctive way. Haywood I believe was inspired by George Harrison when he incorporated the sitar into their music like Timothy Leary's Dead, which was a personal favourite of mine. Still got the Greatest Hits on vinyl Last edited by scholes; 27-06-2008 at 12:03 PM. |

Brilliant sounds. I particularly like this sort of stuff as it it has a distinctive sound that would be hard to copy. Also the artistic content in the writing and music would hopefully keep it off mainstream. Peely would have loved it! The National are reminiscent of Joy Division and The Editors. |
