Period.

It's like when someone was complaining about the use of foreign expressions in the English language. "Oh I don't know," said his friend, "they give the language a certain je ne sais quois"

Have you ever heard those expressions used when the people saying them weren't extracting the urine?

I have absolutely no idea if it is American, but one of my very favourite expressions has to be: "cerebrally challenged".

This is one of my pets hates.

It really annoys me when I hear British people pronounce the word 'schedule' as 'skedule' instead of the correct 'shedule'.

'A whole bunch', 'dudes', 'awesome', 'heads up' get right up my nose.

Why do they punctuate every sentence with the word 'like'?

Tell them to stop immediately...

We don't (except in sitcoms)!

And don't you start either!

Don't pick up bad habits from our sitcoms! You don't want to encourage them, do you?.....

You must make yourself very popular among Americans!

Isn't there another thread on this somewhere.....?

They take it in good part just like it's intended. I like them all apart from George Bush Jr.

I'd give my right arm to be ambidextrous.

Not speech but the 'high five' gesture. Really bugs me.

If only they taught them properly while they were still in skool
Oh, could it be the English who pronounce schedule incorrectly?

Steve

I hate "raincheck". It's never caught on in Oz, and yet the Target and K-Mart junk mail brochures always have at the foot of every page...

"No rainchecks apply on all items and offers on these pages."

Shocking grammar as well! Should be...

"No rainchecks on any items or offers on these pages."

Or "lay-by" instead of "rainchecks".... if that's what it means - most Australians wouldn't have a clue.

Well, you're a more generous man than I am. There are several Americans I dislike in addition to Dubya.

Your avatar is intriguing. Who is that gentleman?
