I was once told that I looked like Paul Newman.

Er,,,,,,,well,,,,,,,what she actually said was that I looked the same age as him.

In truth though, I have been likened to Dennis Waterman by several people.

Funny, how those tasty women from "Minder" never seem to come my way!

Are you or any of your friends or relatives ever mistaken for or compared to a celebrity? Perhaps you could have a career as a Dora Bryan look-alike (Ladies may apply too
Some while ago I made a purchase in a shoe-shop where the assistante informed me "Ooo, you don'arf look like 'im that was in that film on telly last night." Unable to recall any films starring Johnny Depp or Rupert Graves shown the previous evening I soon ascertained that she was thinking of horrific American heavyweight actor Brian Dennehey. As I used to be compared to Glen Campbell in my younger days I reflected sadly that the years and the suet puddings had taken their toll and the rhinestone cowboy outfit would soon be hanging up in Oxfam.
My brother, when he was younger, could have won a Ron Howard look-alike contest. The girls he dated always said "Do you know who you look like?" It was when Ron(ny) Howard was big on Happy Days. If he keeps a cap on my brother could still pass. My bro has hair.

Want to know something funny? My brother can't stand Ron Howard.

A while ago I came in to contact with someone who was a distant relation of Brian Denehy who gave me to understand that he wasn't a very pleasant man. Obviously we have more than looks in common.
Another one I get thrown at me quite often is Gerard Depardieu (although I haven't anything like the schnozz). Perhaps I should book in at Weightwatchers. (O wad some power the gift tae gie us....

Slightly off-topic but the thought occurred to me whilst watching "Too Many crooks" that if anybody wants to film the life story of George Cole they could do a lot worse than asking Dominic Wood (of Dick and Dom in da bungalow renown) to play the part of George as a young man!

Brian Dennehy, Joe Don Baker, Paul Sorvino, Rod Steiger, Sorrel Booke (Boss Hogg) and Carroll O'Connor amongst others have all played hick town overweight redneck types over the years, usually sheriffs in somewhere called Prairie Shit, Alabama with one gas station and a few wooden buildings! The characters are usually called something like Bubba, Skeeter or Teasle etc with identical builds and attitudes. I've met a few similar types in real life who, just like their screen counterparts, have been real b*stards and so I've always assumed that the actors who play those roles would be like that in reality.

The other night in a pub in Bournemouth I was standing at the bar when I was approached by two women, no they weren't police or prostitutes, and one of them said to me "Haven't we seen you on the telly?" and my instant witty retort of "I don't know, we can't see out of it!" was met with total bewilderment!

Channel the other morning I happened on 'The Jeremy Kyle' show for no more than a nano-second and was struck by his visage as that of the late John Thaw, when he was younger of course. Doea anyone else see the similarity?
