I have to smile at all the complaints coming from relatives and friends in the UK that its "Too damned hot!"
I know you do not get much of a summer out there and as such not many people are used to the heat but your "heatwave" falls a little flat when compared to other countries. Here on the Sunshine Coast in Queensland it reached 40C on Christmas Day - now THAT'S heat. ![]() Always remember one important Aussie bit of advice for times of drought. Save Water - Drink Beer. ![]() But I'm a north European Celtic type. I'm not built for hot weather. Luckily I can do most of my work from home - sitting here in my shorts with the windows open & the fans blowing. The clients on the other end of the phone have no idea  Steve |

Just had a welcome thunderstorm and heavy downpour here, I almost felt like doing an Andy Dufresne (no I don't mean shooting the wife!). Ghastly conditions though and no respite in sight, yet more horrid hot weather forecast for the foreseeable future down my way. Another rain worshipper here! |

1. Only 3 degrees hotter than over here in London this week 2. The difference between the Gold Coast and the heat over here is that yours is dry...ours is humid. It is the humidity which is the unpleasant part |

I firmly had my tongue in cheek when comparing the "heatwaves". When it reached 40C here on Christmas Day the humidity was nearly 100%. Usually though the temperature up here is tempered by sea breezes. Something you do not get in the heart of the UK. I remember visiting England a few years ago when there was a short Indian summer happening. I visited a Birmingham working men's club with mates and it was like walking into a Turkish steambath. Not to mention the clouds of tobacco smoke that wafted around. The guy serving behind the bar couldn't stop sweating - into the pints of best bitter. Didn't improve the taste though! Back then most pubs, restaurants, cinemas, offices ect.. in the UK had never heard of air conditioning. It was also impossible to find a car that had air con.installed. Now that the UK seems to be getting longer and hotter heatwaves has the attitude towards air conditioning changed over there? Dave. |

Roll on Autumn and Winter, when you can wrap up against the weather, or better still stay indoors with a good atmospheric film !
Iam thinking of suing my father as he obviously didn't pass on enough of his South Pacific-type genes ; I have a terribly low heat threshold - can't stand all this ! SMUDGE

90 minutes before the end of July - and it's started to rain for the first time this month.
They've just announced that this was the hottest July since records began. And in the UK the weather records go back a long way! Steve |

It may be just part of a "normal" cycle that the world goes through every century or two. Then again, it could mean "The End Of The World Is Nigh". ![]() Dave. |
