Blessings on you and the majority of the posters here - and a heartfelt thanks to you for dismissing this tasteless madness with the contempt it deserves.

Your blessed sanity and reason have cheered me up no end.

I am proud to know you.

I would think so,as there were Brits killed in the incident, and sad for everyone who was killed, who got up that morning with no intention to kill.

The logistics of such an exercise and maintaining the silence of all involved make such a conspiracy laughable. Similar aims could be achieved without going to such lengths.

Agreed.

Even if it were a conspiracy:

a) the likes of us would never be able to prove it;
b) the US government wouldn't leave "clues" everywhere for conspiracy theorists (a bunch of people with way too much time on their hands) to pore over.

Better to focus on the 600,000+ lives lost so far in the pointless war in Iraq, surely?

Of course. Nationality doesn't come into it. Human beings were needlessly killed. That alone should be enough to make you feel sad

I'm usually a cold wall when it comes to emotion, but seeing those events made it very clear who our allies and enemies are.

My point exactly.

A war engaged under the false pretext that Iraq had weapons of mass destruction.

I also echo the praise for all the brave Coalition armed service personnel sent to war under very difficult circumstances. Their courage cannot be understated.

It is disturbing to read that apart from the large number of deaths and injuries in combat, 30% of US troops are suffering serious mental health problems within three to four months of returning home from the war zone.
I imagine the same percentage would apply to British and Coalition troops.
Let's hope they all receive the help and appreciation they need.

Dave.

Oh yes, who's that then? A lot of people don't seem to be able to decide who the enemy is

A New York Times/CBS News Poll published in October 2006 indicated that 84% of people polled in America rejected the official 9/11 story.
Only 16% thought that the Government was telling the truth about 9/11.

Dave.
Over 80% of Brits believe Di was bumped off by secret service goons despite the fact over 1m people die in RTA's yearly around the globe. Conspiracy theories sell papers and there's a lot of bored people to lap it up.

Dave.
The majority believe that not everything has been explained and that aspects of the event are not known.

That has nothing whatever to do with cooking up a conspiracy "theory" that blames tens of thousands of Americans for killing other Americans and claims that there was not really a terrorist attack at all.

I am trying not to get sucked into a slugfest with you. These theories are exciting and fascinating because they present a one-dimensional science-fiction view of reality where demonic Americans are responsible for everything.

They take the current trendy anti-Americanism and take it to the point of insanity, creating a world where Americans are not merely responsible for many things, but for everything. They are like poisonous mushrooms, popping up everywhere.

I didn't expect to find a 9/11 conspiracy thread here. Thankfully, the vast majority have dismissed it. As to why a two year old thread was dragged out of its unquiet grave - I don't know.

It is not possible to put into words how profoundly offensive and insulting this is. Perhaps you need to have NYC as the home of your birth and most of your ancestors for the last century or more to understand.

For me, just discussing this idea means Osama is one up on us.......

I'd rather live in the US, under GeeDubya, than 'in freedom' under the 'other lot'.

9/11 happened. Maybe not all the statements are 100% accurate but hells bells, what next?

6 million Jews didn't die in WW2? Stalin was a good bloke? Mugabe is just misunderstood.................oh my brain aches.............

.....You couldn't hear it, if they were shooting at me with howitzers!

We all know that governments are capable of some despicable acts ... but for anyone to seriously believe that the US government would murder so many of it's own people in such a way is IMHO one of the most ridiculous things I have ever heard.

If you are offended by this thread Tim I apologise on behalf of those of us who do not believe the conspiracy theories.

That's very gracious of you, Bats - certainly no apology is needed. As I have noted, the majority of posters here have responded by dismissing it and I appreciate that.
