While discussing the Kennedy assasination, Gore Vidal once half-jokingly said Americans are incapable of perpetrating a conspiracy because the temptation to spill the beans on a tv talk show would be too great. I don't always agree with Vidal but I always enjoy how he gleefully dissects the collective psyche of my fellow countrymen.

Part of the problem is that no government reveals all they knew after such events and this gives rise to the conspiracy theorists. I would imagine there were intelligence failings along the way that people would prefer weren't disclosed.

The only strange event of the day is the collapse of WTC7, but there exists little comprehensive footage of the damage to the building as the Twin Towers obviously dominated events.

Horrid day and the memories of seeing the jumpers will live with me forever.

There was an interesting programme on last week about WTC7 which featured an interview with a man who claims to have been inside the building when it collapsed. There was also a section about a group of 'investigative architects' who have a huge hangar here in the UK where they plan to simulate the conditions of WCT7 to 'prove' their theories.

Well I've said before that whatever the conspiracy theory whether it's Kennedy, Marilyn Monroe, Martin Luther King, Princess Diana how is it that the next bunch who come to power, usually the former opposition party, don't 'spill the beans' to the public about such goings-on. If they did it would guarantee that the party and politicians behind the crime would never ever get in again, thus ensuring a very long political life for the new administration.

So why don't they tell all? Or is there some secret department responsible for high level assasinations known only to the country's secret service, and everyone involved would rather die than reveal the truth even though they're all on fairly standard Civil Service salaries/pensions and could sell their stories for untold millions to the media ?

Although,I am no fan of Bush,his responce when he was informed of the attacks was one of utter disbelief on his part.
