name='ShirlGirl']Exposure to sunlight is an important source of Vitamin D. Ultraviolet (UV) rays from sunlight trigger Vitamin D synthesis in the skin.

I get my daily dose when I have my breakfast and do the daily crossword over a pot of tea on the patio in the early morning sun. The rest of the day I try to keep out of it.

that's what my mum says!-it's probably why i'm such a miserable so and so!

Yes, some exposure to sunlight is good, over-exposure is very bad

It is bad, which is why I wear sunscreen whenever I go to the beach.

It is important, I read a study not too long ago that said kids don't get enough vitamin D from sunlight because they are inside all day playing computer games.

Especially because BritMovie provides inner sunlights, which are the best.

Think "melanoma" - a big killer Down Under.

Even these days, after all the publicity, you still see silly fools lying on the beach deliberately getting their skin burnt.

They think it looks great to have a "healthy" tan! There's no such thing as a healthy tan. Even the slightest hint of a tan is skin damage.

My uncle died last year of skin cancer amongst other things. He lived in Montreal where there is a stark contrast between the winter and summer. Winter temperature dropping to -40 C about 8 years ago, summer temperatures hitting +40 C in the height of the summer. I've been over several times in the middle of the summer and, along with the humidity, it's absolutely unbearable.

Ps. Mind you, my uncle was 93 when he died!
