what about having a britmovie member of the month draw ? for whoever has made the most interesting , informative ,or entertaing posts or threads .perhaps it might encourage new members to get involved more ? now sadly if the powers that be like this idea ,you cant all vote for me all the time ! it would be unfair for me to take the prize every month ,modesty would forbid me anyway . so what about it anyone else like the idea ?

I wouldn't forbid you at all!

However, to be honest, I think it could smack of 'favouritism' and people might feel inclined to vote for people they get on with or agree with. One of the things I like about this forum is the lack of 'cliques' and although people are friendly to each other - they are not beholden to agree on everything.

I believe there is a member of the month modification but like MB I have reservations this might sow the seeds of resentment as some might take it personally (even if it's intended as fun).

Another site I use has the reputation turned on so users can rep/neg each other and it causes some ill-feeling.

And I couldn't vote until there was a Miss Worldy swimsuit stage...

I am reminded of The Simpsons episode in which Homer is beaten to Employee of the Month by an Inanimate Carbon Rod...

You're worried about being beaten by a dancing banana?

That would be OK (who wouldn't vote for a dancing banana?) - it's the prospect of losing to penfold's avatar that worries me

I've been on a few forums that had 'member of the month' awards. They tend to be abandoned after a while because of the ill-feeling they can cause.

Totally agree MB I think the balance of this forum is good .

I personally would find It hard to pick one post or one member amongst some of the quality we find on the forum .

I am a film fan ,more than a buff ,and I am constantly Impressed by the depth of knowledge of some of the members ,having said that I never feel that my viewpoint is worthless when I do leave a post ,due to the friendly nature of the site .

I think every member deserves the title member of the month

I haven't been here long but I love this forum & all the BMs on it are excellent so far....BUT...the Batguy is creeping me out a bit.

He knows the answer before I finish typing!

No worries on that hankoler. It was "retired" from racing in 2003 and de-modified. I have to confess the car in the avatar isn't mine, it's a 35th anniversary edition. Mine is silver............well it says pewter on the V5

Britmovie member of the month? As other people have previously mentioned I don't think this would be a good idea. It could lead to cliques, favouritism and possibly instigate flame wars. I was a member of another forum and this did happen.
