Now I'm only a tourist, but CCTV cameras. A pal of mine told me that if I walked Oxford St from Tottenham Court Road to Marble Arch I would be on camera the whole time. Well I only made it to St. Christopher's Place as I was in need of a pint 1

Not just down Oxford Street either, not just in London either. There's hardly any city or town centre that isn't covered by cameras.

That's why we have so little crime and bad behaviour

name='EHV_Emmetts']Mobile phones ringing loudly. People walking around with mobile phones seemingly stuck to their ear. People shouting into their mobile phone.

Is it me or is it that as cell phones get smaller, people talk louder?

As they get smaller, when you hold it to your ear, the microphone is further from your mouth so people think they have to shout louder to be heard.

Also, if they're in a noisy place like on the street or in a railway station, it's hard to hear what's being said by the person at the other end of the call - and people think that the other person will have similar problems hearing them, so they shout

The shouters are wrong in both cases

Do you want some of ours? We've got loads of them in SW London.

They make curious noises at night, especially in the mating season

But that's nothing to the noises that the hedgehogs make when the foxes attack them!

There's a momma fox that's been living under my neighbour's shed very successfully for 4 or 5 years now. She has a litter of cubs every year and it's fun to see them play when she first takes them out. Although the crows that we've also got loads of do dive-bomb the fox cubs to try to scare them away (they're all scavengers and carrion eaters so are in competition). But the cubs just ignore them.

We have a fox who regularly comes into our garden ... he's especially fond of chicken carcases and he is excellent for keeping unwanted cats (and cat shit) out.

I saw a fox in the Cut about 5 minutes walk from Waterloo station recently. You can't get much more urban than that unless there's some in Trafalgar Square. Like Steve, I have one in my garden who has had an annual litter for about 5 years now and very cute they are too.

As I approach my office in the City early morning there is an urban fox I see quite a few mornings, he looks at me and I look at him and then we go our seperate ways.

He really is a joy to behold and I imagine he forages around the bins of the many sandwich bars round here

I remember mobile phones in the 90s had a mouth piece that actually came down to the mouth.

My current mobile phone (Motorola V550) has a similar arrangement - although the mouth piece is shorter.
