The disease has spread too quickly to cure now, and what started out as a few boils on the backside has now turned into a pus filled tumour that cannot be cut out without killing the patient. You could blame the government, but lack of parental control has been around since the 70s so subsequent generations have failed to train, educate or instill any sort of discipline or self-respect in their offspring, and the delinquents of the 60s and 70s are now the grandparents of the lawless tossers we have to put up with today.
I'm afraid I agree with all of this. This country will end up, as all country's do, getting exactly what it deserves.........

thats what happens when people lose faith in the law sadly .one things for sure i bet the killers are a lot more worried about that than the police catching up with them ! and i hope theyre really worried as well !

And no doubt the police will use all the resources at their disposal to catch aforementioned would-be contract killers and then moan that there aren't enough policemen available for patrolling the streets!

What's more alarming is that if it's a known gangland boss offering rewards why isn't he in prison for being a known gangland boss? Or is he some luvvable Ray Winstone type Cockerney rogue who does a bit of this n' that and The Filth turn a blind eye because he gets them tickets for Arsenal home games, and he keeps the streets safe near his dear ole' Mum's tower block?

The Krays did, apparently, keep a lot of petty crime off of the streets and tried to 'steer' a lot of wayward kids in the right direction - probably did a lot of the police's work for them as it was in those days.
After he was imprisoned, didn't Reggie Kray keep the 'Empire' going from inside? And Ronnie's tailor and barber visit him regularly in Broadmoor?

I think that the police like to get as much evidence against suspected 'gangland bosses' as possible; firstly because they have more chances of a conviction and, secondly, to keep them in for as long as possible.

i just hope the toerags who took a young lads life away in an argument over nothing are really worried sick of the "mafia " getting hold of them ! he who lives by the sword,dies by the sword . serves them right !

I agree - 'gangsters' are vile. There is a lot of respect given to people like that where I used to live - but they really are no different to the modern age gangs - the same factors count: 'respect' and status.

I haven't joined in to this discussion because I haven't had a chance to read through properly..

I worry about the 'chav' description because it really does label a rather large group of people who are capable of the full range of behaviour. I grew up amongst 'chavs' and could quite easily have been one had I not taken an interest in a few things, been reasonably intelligent and able to climb out..but I think it is easy for people to forget that if you are living in that environment and the rest of society rejects you instantly because of your background..where else have you got to turn? I think we are ghettoising people by labelling them and not giving them a chance.

They are still all individuals..and human beings - isn't it better to lead the way than just condemn them and laugh at them?

There have been some rather fine criminals from all walks in life - Lord Lucan anyone?

Have you seen 'The Krays?'

It was made with a certain amount of sympathy for them - but doesn't leave you in any doubt as to what they were capable of.

Even better though is to read up on some of the eye witness accounts.

Ah - but nothing has ever really been proven beyond reasonable doubt, has it?
I have often wondered whether, had he stayed around, Lucky could have been convicted on what they had. I must read up on that one again.

There actually was, once, a belief that there WAS a 'criminal class' - until it became apparent that the upper classes, including doctors, were murdering for money. Doctors, of course, had access to poisons and, in those days, could make out the death certificates themselves.
