Has anyone had similar trouble? Lately, I've noticed that some of my comments on videoes on the YouTube website have stayed on the YouTube page there for a couple of hours or so and then have mysteriously disappeared, as if someone has deleted them. There is never any thing wrong with my comments on YouTube and they are as harmless and non-insulting as my posts here on Britmovie. But something's making them disappear. Very odd.

Haven't noticed anything re the comments, no. Have you checked out older posts, to see if they're still there?

Yes, Hugh, I've checked the earlier ones going back months and they're still there. It's just the ones posted during the past three days that are affected.

I did notice YT playing up more than a litlle bit on Friday night, perhaps, it was a case of high usage, or them changing things around again.

Could be just a temporary glitch then, Hugh. I've noticed on there that some people are seriously engaged in slagging each other off all the time instead of discussing the video in a civilised manner and using the fowlest of language as well. Yet those posts don't get deleted. Odd.

I very seldom post comments there myself, unless it's to praise the poster for something I've been after for a while, or, bringing my attention to something I hadn't known of before. You're right about the use of language, makes one wonder how some of these people live their lives. I come from a working class background, and by no means a prude, but there is a point of decency. Maybe, there's just too much for the moderators to cope with, but users can always report a post.

I think in your case, it's just a temporary glitch, hope so, anyway

Some while ago I appeared to have successfully left comments, so far as I could tell, but when I went back later, they were not there........... By trial and error I realsied they were just not making it onto the 'board' although the software seemed to be confirming they were there.

I think the video poster has the power to remove any comments applied to their own video, if they elect to do so. I've noticed some posters don't allow comments at all, but refer the viewer to a blog or some other web page.

I thought one of mine was missing once. Then after a fair bit of scrolling, I found my name listed but the actual post wasn't there. I clicked on "reply" opposite my name, and my comments appeared - along with the word "hide". When I clicked "hide" the comments were hidden again (of course) and "hide" was replaced with "show" - which wasn't there initially.

    Hope that makes sense!

Owners of videos are allowed to delete comments they don't like - I have myself on one or two occasions.

Thanks, folks. Maybe the owners of the videos deleted my posts because they weren't foul-mouthed enough for them. But I shall try to follow ShirlGirl's advice and see if the posts are actually still there, but hidden in some way.
