    Hi.

Why is it that some people strive for fame but then they don`t seem to be happy? When I think of the actors who have turned to the bottle, divorce, suicide, etc how can they be living a happy life? Of course you don`t have to be famous for all that to happen but if a person has everything materially possible and is popular what else is there? Or is that the problem, it isn`t the high they expected and they are always looking for something else to fill the gap?

    What do you think?

i think, especially with present day stardom, the stress of your every move being watched and reported by the paparazzi is a major contributing factor to unhapiness.

With older stars I understand that thier generation was pretty much thrown in the spotlight but these days people know what they are getting themselves into. Thats why it annoys me, all these reality t.v stars who WANT it, not because they want to go into acting as a proffession but because they just want to be the centre of attention without training, hard work or talent .

a prime example of that is 'charley' from last years big brother-i've never seen someone with such a lack of talent demand to be famous as much as that absolutely horrible human being!

i don't think people actually realise how much of their privacy will be lost by courting fame and once the honeymoon period is over then the trappings of fame become too much for a lot of people.

Its very much a product of the society & culture that we inhabit today......

"We" "Joe Public"......have forced upon us the anachronism of "celebritiyism" as pure entertainment...........there pain/sadness & deaths are all part of it....

We all know that happiness cannot be found with increase in wealth........

True happiness (or better word CONTENTMENT) can only be gained through a spirtual perspective...........

Following the 10 commandments is a good start......I'm no preacher so don't panic

Material possessions and the media which says you should have it (all of it right now)......will take one on a downward spiral of dissatisfaction, anger & resentment.

    MP's expenses.....case in point.....Think spiritually not materially....

I probably sound like a bit of a "freak"......but I just don't enjoy those types of programmes, and the people & what they do with their lives, don't interest me in the least........

No-one needs to be famous............its not a game......people get hurt.....

Look after one another, be open to peoples feelings, but above all shed the guilt that comes with possessivness , by understanding spiritual awareness comes from within............

I'm happy I'm not in the loop.........Take the first step..........

I don't remember if it was Bette Davis or Ingrid Bergman (maybe both) who said actors aren't by nature very happy people. If they were happy they wouldn't be actors in the first place.

Generally speaking, celebrities are pretty low in the pecking order of people I actually feel sorry for. Bankers and politicians too. Numerous exceptions, of course.

I am not aware of any actors or actresses who ever said they found their ultimate happiness through their work. I know that their family, spouse is even a harder possibility when it comes to personal happiness. I guess it all ultimately depends on the individual. Every actor and actress is different, with their own perspective on acting.

Didn't Kirk Douglas once say that being a movie star was the most narcissistic (?) thing anyone could do ?
