Yes - a view from the outside, and no fawning or convulsions of monarchy worship from me...

But i do believe it's true.
Well I wouldn't miss it. Getting rid of the monarchy would not destroy history.

You won't see much fawning here either. A bit, from a few people, but only a very little bit

I thought it was great! Watched all the coverage here in Canada on BBC.

Looking forward to the DVD box set that should obviously be coming out.

The general impression I had was of dignity, grace and good nature - some nostalgia and sentimentality (very understandable and appropriate here) but not too much, and a sense of celebration without arrogance. Altogether - very nicely done.

So that's why he is laid up - severe swelling of the cranium. That can happen when the skull doesn't match the size of the arms and chest.....Hope he's put right by that nurse.

Now looking forward to the Platinum Jubilee in ten years time, though I've no doubt Prince Harry will be married in the meantime, another Royal wedding to get all excited about!

Mark, the other day I heard a TV announcer mention some forthcoming celebrations for William's 30th birthday which is fairly imminent as I'm sure you know...

Surely this will be a private affair?

There won't be yet more public flag waving...will there?

Is someone taking the Gypsy's Kiss?

No chance, all the Royal's private affairs become public eventually.

I knew he was pushing 30 but wasn't sure of the exact date, somehow I don't think there'll be an open Carriage parade and the subsequent waving from the Palace balcony to hordes of people waving the Union flag, but they maybe something for the public to be able celebrate the birthday with of our future King though, William is a credit to his mother.

I don't know what a Gypsy's kiss is something to do with luck is it, like a bride being kissed by a sweep on her wedding day maybe?...........enlightenment please!

It's okay, I've just twigged, rhyming slang, though just exactly how can the p**s be taken (and of whom) concerning this event?

    (I don't mean literally!)

I think Tonch is referring to the fact that he believes the Gypsys Kiss would be taken out of the british public for such an event to occur.

I was just being flippant Mark

All I was getting at was, if there ARE indeed plans (and I guessed you might know) to make some big deal of the future King's 30th, coming so soon after the diamond jubilee overkill (in my opinion - I respect it's not yours) it would feel like a bit of a p*ss-take to the republicans among us

wouldn't worry about the 30th celebrations Tonch, because as it is so soon after Jubilee and that it is just a week or two away I'm sure the public would have been informed of any formal celebrations. But should he and Kate start producing children then be afraid.....be very afraid.

    Why?

Amazing how quickly time flies, I honestly can't see the broadly pro-monarchy public doing a radical volte-face within the next decade...

Liz won't abdicate, goes right against the grain of the sense of duty which drives her...

Genetically those Windsors seem to be made of strong stuff, no reason to think she won't live to a similarly ripe old age as her mother...

    Platinum is odds-on I reckon
