name='batman']Jock, pom, paddy et al all began life as spiteful, derogatory or offensive terms .... and many people still regard them as such.

thats probably true i dont doubt it ,but if my name was hrh davidb i wouldnt be able to use them in any context at any time .if i did ,someone would be waiting to hot foot it to the news of the screws . he isnt an ordinary geezer like us is harry wales .

But, like the rest of us ordinary geezers, he is a human being and not perfect.

I was amazed to see UK TV news lead with this story which merits only a mention at the end - if that. With the Israelis and Hamas engaged in conflict in Gaza and the ongoing economy crisis - to name but two - there are far more important issues to be covered. This video clip was 3 years old and featured a gobby and rather immature youth who is rather different today. The media organisations should get their priorities right.

maybe the problem is that over recent years weve expected the royal family to be like the danish royal family and operate on a more even level with ordinary people . my basic view on this is that they shouldnt ,they should stick to their own kind . if harry is mixing it with the lower orders he cant tell a filthy joke ,he cant use slang words to describe people ,he cant pick his nose or scratch his behind because someone will be waiting to leg it with a tape recording to fleet street .

if he must look like hes supposed to be in the army ,stay with the very upper echelons [ who will obviously be die hard royalists ] who will chaperone and protect him .they would stop him getting involved in barrack room talk particularly when theres a tape recorder about

So what exactly is your point .... he shouldn't have said what he did, or he should've been more careful where he said?

he shouldnt have said what he did . the word paki has been hijacked over the years and been used with extreme spite . but my basic point is he shouldnt be in a position of getting involved in horse play or barrack room talk at all .at least when theres ordinary soldiers and tape recorders about .

I have to disagree ..... the chap is a human being and needs to enjoy the friendship and camaraderie of his environment just like everyone else.

In my job I have to maintain a posture of professionalism at all times. Sometimes I fail and put my foot in it or upset someone .... that's because I am human, and so is Harry.

Putting your foot in it is one of the hazards we all face in life. He has apologised and I am sure he will learn from the episode. Time to let it rest IMHO.

well we will have to agree to disagree but harry will never be in a position where he has to worry about the leccy bill or the car insurance like what we do .he enjoys a life of privelage and wealth .the price he pays is his every move is reported ,like living in a 24 hour soap . maybe the rights and wrongs of that are for another time

"There were three of us in this marriage, it was a bit crowded"

How did she have the cheek to say that?

Because of the dozens of soldiers she had hidden away?

I'm getting fed up of it now. With the amount of unearned privilege these parasites have, they're fully immune from anything. Did Harry not realise his step-dad was a "johnny foreigner"?

As our foolish Prime Minister said on TV, Prince Harry serves as 'a role model for our young people'......

So does this mean youngsters in our schools, colleges and universities should be guided in their behaviour by emulating Prince Harry in actions (by joining the army, wearing Nazi gear, cheating in their 'A' levels) and in his choice of words to address their contemporaries ?

In recent days, we have seen a senior royal whack his dog with a walking stick,

and both Harry and his 'official ' dad use racially offensive terms such as 'Paki' and 'Sooty' .

It least, it reveals what they are really like......
