What reports? What has my favourite little princeling done now? Not admitted he is a crypto-Nazi and the uniform wasn't just in fun.

A complete and utter media beat up by the News Of The World.

Film footage taken THREE YEARS ago while Harry was in army training, has come to surface that allegedly has a couple of instances of him making 'racist' remarks.

He was a young man in the Army for God's sake! I think the footage actually shows him as being down to earth and one of the boys. He even jokingly makes remarks about his grandparents.

Any other squaddie making the same remarks and no one would have batted an eyelid.

Yet watching the UK Sky News today they devoted a whole half hour to the story with the big onscreen banner BREAKING NEWS.

I feel sorry for poor Harry. I wish the usual PC brigade would just take a step into the REAL world and get a life!

Noting where you live - perhaps you aren't aware that, in this country, the word 'Paki' is used as a term of offense. Never have I hear it used as a 'joke' - it is always used as a means of a put down and has become associated with racist organisations who used to daub 'Paki' on peoples doors.

I think some young boys might think it is funny to 'call their mates it - but, I should imagine the recipient wouldn't be too pleased - even if they pretended they didn't mind, because they were in the army and up against the son of the prince of Wales. I think it is supposed to say ‘you can’t muzzle me, I’m a free man..’ but anyone could do that…we don’t – not because there is some great social taboo or because we’re ‘scared’ of anything – but out of consideration…

I can't believe that people can slag him off when it's all taken out of context. For Instance, I'm on excellent terms with a girl singing duo, one is black, the other white, they called themselves 'Coffee and Cream'. I lovingly referred to them as 'Soot and Whitewash', no malice intended and they called me 'Honky' a term of derision towards white people but we all laughed and no offence taken. Judge it by context.

A real storm in a teacup - 'they' are getting desperate looking for fault in someone by locating a private video made several years ago. We are at the beginning of a potenial financial collapse and this is news ?

It's not "news" it's the News of the World. It's part of the Murdoch stable so it never misses any chance to spread any anti royal story.

I am surprised that it was made the top story on the TV & radio news though

The newspapers will hop up and down but I'd imagine a cross-section of the public would be 50/50 or 60/40 on whether it's racist or an abbreviation. I know British people are referred to as Brits etc but the problem with 'Paki' is that it's often aimed at people who aren't from Pakistan (doubt the soldier is in this instance).

earlb i know where youre coming from but if you were third in line to the throne and you were having a bit of fun like that with a girl band as you mentioned someone would happily take your comments out of context and record them as well ! .what i think should come out of this now is that prince harry etc should stop trying to be ordinary geezers and stick to their own kind . im sure their servants are sworn to secrecy so they can bad mouth who they like in privacy .if they must join the armed services we all know its just pr so just stick with the upper echelons and dont mix with the lower ranks

    a) If they didn't mix with "ordinary people" then the newspapers would jump on them for being aloof

    b) Look at how many royal servants have blurted all their secrets to the tabloids

    c) Harry wasn't with the lower ranks, he was with other officer cadets at Sandhurst

That was what I was about to add here.

How did the news of the world get the story? Harry donated it? Found in a railway carriage/taxi? Stolen and sold for cash? Stolen and given in the interests of racial harmony? The whole episode stinks.

a ,its all just an illusion harry fighting in afghanistan i know that and i bet you know that . all done for pr .

b, any royal servant spilling the beans and dishing the dirt such as burrell leaves himself open for prosecution ,theyve tried to nail him a couple of times already .hes been lucky so far .

c, stay with the upper echelons who will chaperone him not cadets ,officer or otherwise .

My thoughts exactly. I work with large numbers of Indian, Pakistani, African, Somali, Chinese, Polish and other people and wouldn't for a moment condone his actions. In fact, I go the other way and am one of the first to pull someone up for using terms like that.

But it was two and half years ago, for goodness sake, and he was a very young man at the time. It's gone. Done. Over. Don't 'they' have anything else to write about?

    Ridiculous and knee-jerk, piss-poor journalism.

I have little enough time for that middle-class German family, but this isn't even racist.

A man from Iraq is an Iraqi. An Australian is an Aussie. Neither of these terms are considered racist, are they? Shortening the name of a country is hardly offensive or the Swedes, Danes and Irish would be upset.

I'm late to this thread I know and also to the story, but still... It caught my attention and was presented as a post Nazi armband incident. Either way it is unexcusably shabby. My two sons were appalled to hear of this. Myself raised from solid anti-royalist stock, I have tried to be sympathetic to the personal dilemmas of being a member of the Royal Family - but this makes it impossible. The Prince is financially supported by the very people he derides. At best absolutely disgusting ! Of course young men can change, but it takes hard work and the will to change. Only time will tell, but for now my "benefit of the doubt" is withdrawn.

How would you like it if every mistake you made as you were learning and growing up was then sold to the newspapers?
